I prefer toolstation tend to be far cheaper.

Screwfix is owned by B&Q, Toolstation are much better IMHO.

Oh that sucks.

Actually they are owned by Kingfisher who also own B&Q

Blimey is Toolstation the campest chain name in the UK?

Try these instead - had fantastic service from these...

Nooooo, do not touch these with a barge pole, they are without doubt the worst company I have EVER used. I used to use them for work for years and then 2 years ago something must've happened and the service became terrible. Waited for 18 months for 2 pairs of work boots and am still waiting for some other products from 12 months ago.

They don't respond to emails, letters or phone calls and will not remove me from their mailing list.

Useless excuse for a company and I now avoid them like the plague.

DIYTOOLS are pretty good, and Screwfix are also reliable.

At Glastonbury and Weston-super-Mare we have PROPER JOB shops.
Limited range compared to the other two but usually cheaper. Also stock Home & Garden items.
Slightly better than cheap 'n cheerful but fit for purpose at low prices.
I think this chain is mainly in the South of England.

Kingfisher's main retail brands are B&Q, Castorama, Brico Dépôt, Screwfix and Koçtaş.

Saying screwfix has a clearance sale is like saying DFS has a sale on sofas.

Good post Phila4; about time you made a decent contribution to this site.

Near me, there's a screwfix and a toolstation within a few metres of each other. Funnily enough, screwfix is the one that's bustling with trade.

It probably looks like its bustling with trade, the reality is that its people stood around waiting to be served or waiting for their stuff to come from the warehouse. The service in toolstation is much quicker

I have a Toolstation and Screwfix very close by. Toolstation seem to be a little cheaper generally but I agree - Screwfix is usually much busier.

As I said, a lot of their clearance stuff is out of stock, but those I listed are available as I checked. There are many other things available (just that they don't interest me) and you can get some great deals.

I've bought a few of the chisels, various wrecking bars, the adjustable wrenches and countless screw sets and the price is superbly low.

Basically have a look around as they have all sorts and are continually updating stock and selling old stock off cheaply.

toolstation much cheaper than screwfix, i prefer toolstation

Toolstation used to be really good, they're prices have gone up quite a lot in the 5 years I've used them (esp last 18 months), often tools you can find cheaper elsewhere I find. I tend to use them because of the free delivery over a tenner. Screwfix are getting more competative now which is good - and they've got a much bigger range

in the same way Toolstation are 'owned' by Wickes.

It doesn't really matter who owns what, if these particular deals are a good price, and convenient.

Both were setup by the same person, he setup toolstation the very second his non-compete agreement expired with after selling screwfix.

Nice to see effort put into the first post

Why has no one mentioned ironmongery direct? They are much better than toolstation and screwfix

Toolstation release their new catalogue tomorrow. Which normally means a new bunch of discontinued products on their webpage.

Now why on earth did you feel the need to mention that? Huh?

Now I'm going to spend hours trawling the Toolstation site for tools and things I really don't need..........................................but for some reason still want?

Think I may just have a quick gander now - thanks for the heads up. My missus is going to be SO pleased!
