MK is a high end brand renowned for being the top manufacturer of electrical equipment. Great if you want to change a single socket to a double (you will need a knockout or surface box) to take all the plugs at the back of the TV or in bedrooms which always seem to have single sockets rather than doubles.

This sort of thing is usually around a quid from Screwfix, Wilko etc etc
MK is a very well known brand, and it looks better than the one in your link, but if you want something cheap that doesn't have the look's of the MK version, then yeah go for that one instead.
Ironically the best quality of Screwfix's other socket and switch offerings is also the cheapest, their oddly unbranded range eg...

...for a whole £1.19 which also look OK without those annoying screw covers unlike most others.
Honestly though, when you use those cheap ones, they're hard to push, click very loudly, and not a pleasure to use. These ones feel just right and are good quality.
brand snobbery over a socket? now I've heard it all.
The Screwfix ones in my link are actually LAP, if brands are you thing.
Those pesky screw covers are annoying
They nearly always get damaged when i take them out via a flathead screwdriver
Got any tips to avoid this?
Slightly > though still budget
The OP's post is for a double pole switched socket your link is for a single pole socket the double pole Lap socket is £2.07 screwfix.com/p/2…99d still cheaper but I think the OP's post is a good deal for an MK socket, each to their own.
Yeah don't fit them in the first place I don't
Single pole garbage. Had a neutral ground fault on a Neff integrated dishwasher and the dozy kitchen company put SP in the cupboards. Even with the SP socket switched off the fault still remained until the plug was physically removed.
Took ages to track down the fault because of the SP socket.
Most our contracted works are Schneider, but MK is used as frequently as Crabtree and some cheap brands when the client doesn't care about looks just cost. It isn't brand snobbery though, I'd agree - a nice finish can make the difference in a new build than a basic square accessory.
Absolutely. I changed all the light switches for MK ones when I bought our house - it cost next to nothing to do, made the rooms look like a 'new' house when they'd been redecorated (I like the chamfered look as it looks more 'fresh'), and the feel/click when using them is superb, really noticeable for the sake for an extra £1 or so. Same with the sockets (which I've mostly, but not completely, done).
Glad it's not just me
Lap is Screwfix own brand which doesn't say much for quality. My customers always choose the MK one's when I give them an option of switches and sockets when doing rewires.
For £4.99 you got usb there.. screwfix.com/p/b…34f
I think they look better. More sleek but both is same build quality.
Not the MK version though, it doesn't say if it's single of double pole either.
MK are not what they were.

I've had success using a small ball of freshly worked Blu-Tak. Push firmly on the cover and then peel it off. No damage and also the cover doesn't fall on the floor and get lost.
No comparison really, the MK is double pole, the Schneider one is single pole, when buying 2 gang sockets always go for double pole.
I fitted nearly 50 last week and only one I had a problem with when terminating it, took it back for a straight swap.
I'm still debating about going with good quality "white" like MK or pay a bit more for cheap chromed flat one.
What's your opinion?
chrome look horrible, sort of thing you'd expect to see in a brothel.
I got some nice ones from B&Q.
First went with flat chrome ones on black metro tile, but have now changed to a slightly beveled Shadow chrome as the flat ones just didn't look as good
Also what a ball ache to clean!
I do think they look nice though
What are the alternatives? Brushed steel/chrome?
Surprised you turned up on time???
