If your 9 year old is anything g like mi e he could easily get through a pair of shoes a term. At £6.99 a pair I can cope with that. Excellent timing with the School holidays coming up if you're already planning the new uniform for next year.

Also girls scuff resistant shoes and football boots for £6.99.

Great price but we got the girls ones last year. They were only used for one term - uppers of the shoes are fantastic and free of scuffs, however the soles are both worn badly near the heel (falling apart in fact). Not voting hot or cold.

To be fair we bought our kids last pairs of shoes from Next thinking they'd last longer and we had exactly the same problem PLUS our daughter managed to scuff her way through to her toes at the front. I kind of think that they're going to manage to destroy any shoes you give them so might as well pay £6.99 rather than £30+.

Yes I agree to an extent! Clarks ones, whilst hideously expensive, did prove to be really hard wearing for my daughter though.

I swear by asda scuff resistant ones to the point that's all we buy now. Current pair is at 6 months and only the sole is starting to wear.

I don't know where these are made but I know aldi as most do use China a lot for manufacturing. I tend to find most footwear that comes out of China excluding hiking boots never seems to last very long. For whatever reason made in China usually means no upper leather. Shoes made in Thailand, India, Vietnam and Cambodia tend to be made of good quality leather. But there are always exceptions and for the price these might be worth a punt even if they are made in China.

They do not say whether they are leather and at that price I expect they aren't. Faux leather makes your feet sweat, smelly and unable to 'breath'.
My youngest has wide feet so I have to buy her Clark's or Startrite. I tend to buy them when they have half price sales on, so they don't work out too expensive and they last.

I would try these but my daughter is very hard on shoes, she wore through Clarks in 6 weeks! so now buy toughees - she's had current pair since Christmas and only just starting to wear out the soles!! Asda ones lasted less than a week! so I guess they are a good price if your kids don't wear through shoes easily :-)

Have the exact same problem. Haven't tried these yet but worth a go at £6.99. May be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the tips here Sent this to my sister who's looking for school shoes for my (nearly) five year-old niece.

It's a pleasure. If these deals only help one person save a few quid the it's worth it. I know that I've saved plenty thanks to the deals on here....... have also spent plenty of money on things I never knew I needed also.

I ma not voting as I am sure some people will find this useful.
However, I doubt the quality s lot for that price, is it even leather and what quality? Kids spend 60-70% of their day wearing school shoes and they need to be proper leather and breathable especially in warm weather.

So if leather is "breathable" can anyone explain why cows don't leak? Why don't they absorb water when it rains, like a big, cow shaped sponge?

My guess is that shoe leather is actually impervious to air, especially when coated with wax.

Please don't breed.

clarks only play on the name for school shoes i have 4 kids in school and this year i gave up on them...yet again they don,t last a term very well...nearly as bad as windsors...the best by far i,ve come across is lee coopers shoes...they are of the quality that clarks used to be....they are not as expensive as clarks but god damn better quality....i don,t mind paying for quality but clarks has gone downhill on there quality in the last 2 years...they fall apart pretty quck these day and at 35 to 55 a pair times 4 kids is a lot of money ...lee cooper all the way ...

Good price if your on a budget, I tend to buy clarks half a size bigger than they need in September and they have always lasted the full school year. We do usually go to the outlet tho which is much cheaper than the normal store. My kids both have wide feet G/H fitting so that's another reason I buy clarks x

Clarks as real leather and last. Buy cheap get cheap. Hav to renew every 6 wks! cost u more in long run. clarks cheshire oaks outlet size 13 boys r £21.00 instead of £34 in normal clarks.

I bought some of these last week and they look ok but are MASSIVE and quite wide so worth trying on several different sizes rather than just buying what you think you need!

Best shoes I have ever bought and will continue to buy are Toughees, I have never had a pair wear out, and only needed to replace them because they were too small.
