The deal comes up under xbox so have to assume he is using for game installs.
Assuming the saves are backed up to the cloud then there is nothing wrong with not backing up the installs

So he is right. That is too much to lose as in better splitting it between a number of drives

Can be used for pc/xbox/ps4 as stated at the bottom...

He's not mentioned the intended purpose of the drive.

Games bought for xbox/ps4 can they be downloaded again as previously purchased ?

But either way there's no loss of files as you would be mad not to have the backups especially if you have years of home movies pics etc or using as a professional storage if your a photographer.
