Had two of these, first last 5 mins, the second lasted 2 months (lost all my data that time)... Learnt my lesson now..... If you value what your putting on this then avoid like it's pixmania

have the 1 gig one.the click of death was also mentioned with that one but have had no problems

It has this excruciating sleep mode built right into the drives USB controller and cannot be turned off. It essentially turns the drive off after 5 minutes of inactivity and whenever you want to access it again you have to wait about 10 seconds for it to wake. While its doing this most of the system stalls while it waits for the drive to wake up. And quite often it decides to wake up for no reason, stalling the machine again while it does.

Its a huge pain in the ass and I wouldn't ever consider a Seagate drive with the Sleep Mode tech built in.
