Was looking for a reasonably priced 4TB HDD and stumbled across this. I know some people don't like Seagate, but I have never had any issues with them. Price applies to silver, blue and red variants of the 4TB model.

Nice metal design, works on PC and MAC (with NTFS drivers). Also includes 2 Months of Free Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan in the package, no idea how good this is. Not limited to only prime members and free postage.

Edit:
5 TB available in black for £116.02 Link

TBH compare ratings of Seagate drives with WD on Amazon. WD has a clear edge across range after 1000's of reviews on both. That's why some people don't like Seagate.

I have had a mix of various drives over the last 20 years or so and have not had any failures. Except the ones that I dropped thanks to my two left thumbs. But then I use them for personal use rather than at enterprise level. I have a couple of Seagates along with 2 WD red in my NAS; all work fine with no issues. I paid a lot more for the WD reds, not really sure why. Possibly got swayed by all the doomsayers. Seagate 2 TB attached to my Xbox for the last 3 years. Numerous writes and rewrites and reinstalls; no problems at all. Feel a bit silly having splurged a significant premium for the WD, but with no benefit over the last several years. Of course, YMMV.

This site doesn't particularly support WD as being any better than Seagate?

No Seagate is between 4.1-4.3 and WD is between 4.3-4.5 for portable HDD. For example this drive OP has posted is 4.1 rated and equivalent WD My Passport is 4.3 and WD Elements is 4.5 rated.

Lucky dip really, there was big problems with some seagate drives a long while ago with very high failure rate.

Got 2 WD drives a while ago (not portable),one power adapter burnt out and the other HD burnt out and ails to start.

Got 2 seagate 2TB drives, both still fine 5 years later.

as mentioned always worth looking at owners reviews...

Yeah agreed. Any drive can fail. I was just pointing out at the probability by looking at the reviews.

Reliability and availability. I’m still using 2tb external hard drive which I bought in 2012. Still it’s going good. Recently I bought 4tb version too. But read and write speed of seagate drives are little faster but there isn’t any significance difference in speed.

How many copies of data do you keep concurrently?
2tb is almost full. I bought we 4tb elements to backup up my laptop. I’m going to use easy backup software. Here is the speed of two drives.
