Good Price
Edited by: "RawDeal" 19th Apr 2011

Good price, though bought well over a year ago from Tesco for £45 so not massive difference if you consider the change in value on HDD's. Also, our's died very quickly, did various things to try and bring to life but it is beyond tempremental. One of the reasons I haven't jumped on the bandwagon of the other deal, won't be buying a portable seagate again

man, just ordered the 250gb seagate deal from bestbuy, but starting to worry/regret a bit now reading all the seagate horror stories, mainly about seagate drives dying very quickly, e.g. a few months, within a year etc, I know nothing lasts forever but surely at least around 5 years life is fair right?

few seagate drives (exactly this one) died on me minutes after using it so won't buy one

On the flipside, my Seagate has lasted 2.5 years now. If we can get 640 GB externals for this price for year end I'll definitely be splashing out on a new one.

oh no! samsung is/was one of my prefered choices, certainly over seagate

now less and less choice, currently using WD, will be sticking to it then.

and this parts quite worrying: "At the same time, Samsung will take Seagate drives for its PC, notebook, and crucially perhaps, consumer products."

i'd take a seagate drive over a samsung any day. i recently bought 4 103sj 1TB models. so far after just 3 months they have all developed bad sectors and are being RMA'ed

Just to add a bit of balance.....
My 300Gb version of this Seagate has been fine for over 1 year now. I even use it, problem free in the car for playing music and if it can cope with that, it can cope with most things...
