What a spot Brutes!!
Any pros getting the amazon one instead of that 74 quid one? Any experience with amazon refunding the money if they break down after 30 days?

I did the same. Added this drive to my basket then saved it for later. When I refreshed my basket and saw the extra £5 price drop, pulled the trigger!

For less than £3 and despite the positive reviews for the cheaper 3rd party supplier, in my experience with Amazon (20+ years and never a bad customer service experience or at least where I didn't end up out of pocket!) I'd rather pay a bit more.

When it comes to hard drive failures...and it could happen to anyone and any brand (I would usually go for WD over seagate anytime...but this is a very good deal) you're unlikely to get those precious photos restored so I wouldn't rely on this as my complete disaster recovery/back up solution...especially as it's Seagate (skeptical), but I'm happy to buy it and include it as part of my multi drive back plan!

That might/will sound strange but having had a painful data loss, family photos including those of my kids that I've lost forever, parents that are no longer here, I'm now pretty paranoid about data back up and no longer keep all my eggs in one basket, rather a combination of cloud and NAS/local back ups. I guess for many it's not until you lose the irreplaceable that you really take data back up seriously..well for me it was anyway.
Great price, got this Black Friday. I've posted a review on youtube, Hard Drive is quiet slow so please watch the speed review before you buy, youtube.com/wat…=6s
Thanks OP
With the advent of digital drives, eventually these drives will be obsolete. Until then these keep falling in price and or getting bigger for less money.

It's gonna be a while before SSDs hit this storage and price point. Even the spinners aren't dropping much at all really.
I was ruined by getting a Seagate Expansion 4TB back in Feb 2017 for £57 on one the lightning deals and it's taken until this post to see that bettered per gig, so i think i'll bite on this one.
Does it matter if it’s usb 3.0 or 2.0 if it’s using mechanical 5400rpm hdd inside?
good price. these were about twice the price when i got them a few years ago (not that long - 2/3 years maybe).
Amazing deal!!!

For anyone who stores a lot of content you might want to take a look at Google's GSuite. The basic business plan is £8.28 a month at the moment, for one user. It should limit your storage to 1TB but Google don't enforce that and you can simply upload however much you like. You can stream movies from the cloud with ease...for anyone who is interested in that kind of thing

yes, trying to fill up 6TB over USB 2.0 would be a special kind of torture! 5400rpm drive should still reach over 100MB/s (way in excess of the ~25MB/s of USB 2.0)
Anyone knows if the HDD inside is a standard 3.5 inch?

L.E. Confirmed. The HDD is a 3.5 inch Seagate Archive drive.

Yeah it would be fine, what you need to make sure will be ok is the connection from the router to the device you're playing the media on, is that connection fast enough.
Any Ideas if these are ok for playback of films through tv...? Thanks in advance for any replies....?

These drives are designed for archiving data. They are not designed for anything else. There is a reason they are cheap. Use them as they are intended to be used.

Well that seems to be an oversight given that nearly all internal PC hard drives are capable of film playback...? so why is that the case....?
I have other external drives that have no problem playing films through tv...seems a bit strange to me....?
