Unsure if the £10 extra for the Game drive would be worthwhile? Or this will be fine as storage/backup.

Heat! Can you pull the drive and stick it in a PC?

They are £129.99. Worth the extra tenner or save the money and get this deal? No reviews for the 8TB SE on Amazon as yet.

I would also like to know before I pull the trigger.
Thanks OP, needed some extra storage and this is a great price for 8TB!

This one will work on PS4, the one with the USB hub will not. Both will work on Xbox One and PC. Other than that it is down to you if you want the hub for an extra tenner.

I have the Seagate 8TB Game Drive with integrated hub for my Xbox One and do like that it gives another two front USB ports for charging controllers, but not worth an extra tenner in my view.
I can just take the 3.5 HDD out and stick it in my PC I'm guessing? Never worked with a hard drive this big before, is there anything I should be aware of before planning to do this? (I do know that warranty would be void if I did this)

Thanks. Was wondering if the hard drives are different or the same? Otherwise probably not worth the extra tenner. I'll sleep on it and have a think during the day about which one to go for..

You may find that the OS will only see 2TB, you'll need to convert it from MBR to GPT. Having it as an external drive gives portability

Ah, I see. You'll need to look on Google for that but I would expect the same drives in them.
I imagine the drive will be SMR, which is the same as Seagates 'Archive' range. Write performance isn't great. I personally wouldn't use one as a primary drive in a desktop - only for archiving of data etc.

Yes reading the Reddit thread, they say it's an SMR drive which sort of makes sense at that price. Shame, I'd have bought it to rip out and put into my PC server otherwise. Though am still half tempted at that price to put into my backup server... (Or just pay extra for a normal drive)

What about 4k content? Would it be useless? Plan to get this drive just for 4k content but would rather stick it in my PC as I don't need the portability, just need Plex to be able to easily stream off the hard drive.

It will be absolutely fine for what you want to do. People always say that SMR drives are slow, but that statement is a little misleading. If you want a large capacity drive to store lots of data to read/stream (eg Plex, this drive is perfect for that. It’s just not designed for heavy write-intensive tasks, and that’s where performance would be lower. (For those tasks, there are different drive options).

Does anyone know if this has the normal SATA board on the internal drive? So I could use it as an internal drive?
I'm assuming the speed of this will be okay for the One X? Reliable enough etc? I'm not too savvy on hard drives...
