Seems like a good deal - normally hovers around the £140 mark. Hope this helps someone. Note that this price is for Prime Members only. Lets try and keep this thread from descending into a war between Seagate and Western Digital.

Really want this, but it’s a hell of a lot of data gone if the drive dies.

Let's descend in to a fight about whether Amazon prime is really a deal as it isn't available to everyone. I prefer wd these days although I installed hundreds of seagate drives over the years.

Great price, less than £20 per TB!

Is this ok for the Xbox 1 x?

Is this ok for the Xbox 1 x?

Yes it will work fine

Does anybody know if this works on Xbox One X? I have taken a look at the answers and seemed there were some problems on PS4 with a previous update on March, now sorted I suppose. Other person said no problem with Xbox. Is there anybody with more info about this?(highfive)

I really want house insurance but it's a hell of a lot gone if the house burns down so I won't bother!

Looks like Maplin are doing the same price now too - good for those who don't have Amazon Prime. Plus a £10 voucher for £80 spend and possibly 5% Quidco, so perhaps an even better deal?

Amazon Q&A suggest Archive HDD ST8000AS0002 :

"It's an Archive HDD ST8000AS0002, I took mine apart to use the drive in my HTPC setup, you will have to break the enclosure to a large degree to get it out
By K. Duke on 04 May 2017"

I'm always wary of external 3.5" Seagate drives, I had a very old 3TB one that lasted me for about four years with no errors, strangely reliable, but when I installed HD Sentinel to check my SSD the temperatures were through the roof (over 50 degrees), and for some reason my Seagate drive was below 20% health with a max temp of 60 degrees.

I then bought an 8TB model in hope the temps were fixed and to get more space, future proofing it, after about an hour it was hitting 50 again, took it back, never buying one of their drives again, at least not an external one.

I've settled on the WD My Passport drives, they're much better, and only get hot if you're constantly writing data to it non stop.

It can be taken apart and it is a standard HDD inside. However its 5400 rpm so you wouldn't really use it for much more than data storage anyway.

A 200kb file is a hell of a lot of data to lose, if it contains the cure for cancer.

I think there's a fairly large clue in the name of the product... "Seagate Backup Plus 6TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive"

I though PS4 still didn’t work with these drives with the usb hub on the front of them.

I asked Maplin about this and they said it would NOT work with an Xbox X!!

If it was a WD , it would be a "No Brainer" ... being a seagate , it's an expensive paper weight

Cheap for that amount of storage, can't see it getting any cheaper than this on Black Friday itself, it's more likely Amazon has no stock left on Black Friday itself.
I'm pretty certain this is a Seagate 6TB Archive hard drive inside using slower shingled magnetic recording, rather than a Seagate 6TB Barracuda using standard PMR-Perpendicular Magnetic Recording.

Has anyone opened one up to confirm? (I was trying to look through previous threads/Youtube teardowns, not found a video)

The 8GB version internally is an 8TB Seagate Archive drive using slower SMR.

If it is SMR (pretty sure) don't bother pulling this drive to extend your NAS/Synology box, it will end in tears.

Do let me know if you get any updates. I am on hold to buy this.

I bought new TV and need a hard drive to be able to record programmes. Please could you recommend any good hard drives for my tv. Will I be able to record one or two channels at one time? Thank you! The model I bought is Samsung UE49MU7000

Seems to be £134.99 now? And I am a prime member.

This expired yesterday, I reported it as expired and yet it still shows as active.
