Also the first payment did get a paypal email confirmation actually. Now I have 2. One at about £10 the other £50. Absolute crooks! What should I do? Any advice would be appreciated. Why's that?

Why's that?

Seagate are easily the least reliable modern HDD maker. Samsung *were* top dog, but they quit the race. Nowadays Toshiba and what's left of Hitachi take top spot, with WD behind and Seagate last.
They've taken payment at £50.99 from my account! Showed lower price when ordered. Check your accounts
Refunded

Strange that because you just said it, and a bunch of other people say it's not, and Google can tell you both, none of that makes a lick of difference, a HDD is a HDD Seagate, WD who gives a lembas bread, never had a problem with Seagate and niether has anyone I know.

Talk to PayPal and ebuyer. PayPal will always have your back and you will 100% get your money back. Also talk to ebuyer and protest you didn't agree that amount or you want the product at the lower price which was advertised.

I was under the impression that their problems with reliability were with their 3TB drives, and a specific model number, though.
Spinning platter hard drives fail. All brands fail in the end.

Buy em fry em. Just don't keep anything genuinely important on one you use constantly.

I didn't say that ssds don't fail.

If you think my post is pointless you must be blind to the irony of your own.

You imply there is a better alternative with that statement, ssds are the alternative. People need to store data, what we're you implying they should do?
