Cracking price. This or the Toshiba 4Tb drive posted yesterday for £2 more?

Use the Toshiba only if you are planning on installing it into a RAID array.

Toshiba one is currently out of stock.

What? The Toshiba is the better deal because an extra year of warranty is easily worth £2. The only reason to go for this Seagate is if the extra power consumption of the faster Toshiba bothers you. RAID arrays have nothing to do with it, the Toshiba would be fine running as a single drive.

Nice to see lots of 4TB Drives at good prices - wish SSDs would follow suit!

Got this when it was on offer a few weeks back, very well packaged by eBuyer (unlike Amazon with HDs)

Why, the additional altitude after bumping thrown on your roof should be ok 😜

100% valid point.
I had a CPU delivered by Yodel and the Box had been jumped on and the CPU box inside the packing crushed.
Ill happily pay more for a delivery from a proper logistics company.

Disc a bargain tho. Although ive plumped for the Tosh in the other deal, had a couple of seagates fail (never used a iron wolf) so now tend to stick to things like HSGT for my NAS boxes.
5900rpm? never heard that speed before

Valid point but not a good reason for voting cold - its buying of the product being voted on not the delivery experience

You could argue that the delivery experience is part of the purchase customer service. Making it instrumental to how you view a deal.
John Lewis and Amazon tend to get hotter deals due to the CS they offer.

It's been about for a while. Tends to be used for larger archive drives.
The barracuda.. the drives that always fail

We could argue until the cows come home, I would disagree with respect to hotdeals as most of the time your don't even know that until after the fact and it's the deal we concentrate on. But you're allowed your opinion as I am

Sorry I disagree with you, a deal comprises on the full experience, such as product guarantee, customer support, and other factors and not just the price.

With respect to this product, I woudn't want a hard drive that's been absorbing excess shock on its way to me so delivery is an important consideration.

You only need to look up Very deals to understand that being the cheapest doesn't mean much

I made my comment so people would be aware of who is delivering the item. If people want to risk the "Yodel" delivery then great for them , its a good price, but is it worth the risk !

No Choice - The Toshiba is the better deal as it more than twice as reliable as the base Seagate drives. Barracuda used to refer to a premier Seagate drive - now it seems to be pushed to the budget end. The reduced warranty says a lot about the drive.

I know my reply was tongue in cheek, but the cost of the delivery is part of the purchase cost and not everyone has a bad Yodel experience.
I have felt the same way before about a deal but I couldn't feel that I could vote it cold because of the courier, instead I didn't vote either way.
I don't think voting cold is the right way forward, if it's a good deal then it's a good deal and hot. If it's cheaper somewhere else then it's cold, but then we each have our own perspective I guess.

Oh and I've never had a Barracuda fail on me... WD, Samsung, Hitachi, all of those but never a Seagate. Again though, I'm sure there are those it there that have had an opposite experience.

I've picked up 2 4tb hgst drivers and both of them make a clicking noise every few seconds. The first drive sounded like a grinder when formatting on my nas. And the clicking is very loud and can be felt even on the table the nas sits on. Is this normal? I returned the first drive for a replacement. Do you think both are faulty?

Edit: sorry for off topic, but Google isn't being of much help.
