Seriously 1.5 TB, that's almost more than a main ISP Server Centre I visited in 2002 and that was for NE England.

Who needs 1.5TB other than movie pirates ?

I didn't know there was even 3tb of goat pr0n on the net :O

Back on topic though I'm very tempted by this but it would only ever be sat next to my pc so may go for the internal one posted a few days ago at £80.

I'm afraid skyHD doesn't handle anything more than 1Tb. It also needs internal drives. The only way to get more space is to be more advanced and use external eSATA hot-swappable drives.
I would respectfully recommend further research before attempting such an unsupported warranty-breaking upgrade.

Just to make sure.A PS3 will recognize this and be able to play any MP3,AVI stored on it? If so I just need to decide between the 500GB internal one or this fella.

Anyone considering buying this drive should have a look here 1st.

I got one of these drives when it was posted a while back and havnt had a problem with it, the only niggles it has are there are no feet on the drive to help keep it in place and there is no power switch at the back so you will have to either switch it off at the mains or pull out the usb cable. This to me is the exact same drive but the maxtor drive is £97.48 and has a 3 year warrenty as opposed to the 2 year warrenty.

This should work, only thing is you need to format it as FAT32 for PS3 to recognize. Also organizing data within internal Harddrive is a pain IMO

Seagate took over maxtor so its basically the same drive, only difference is that the drive on ebuyer has 3 years warrenty as i mentioned earlier on this thread.

Yeah i know what your saying, but theres also been alot of folk having problems with seagate drives also, its just your luck ive had a maxtor sata drive for years now and never had a problem but my seagate drive packed in after 3 weeks.Lots of people only review items when they are having problems with them and wouldnt normally leave a review at least you get an extra years warrenty with the maxtor and at the end of the day the 2 drives look identical.

i like samsung drives but they dont make external 3.5" drives. for externals i think western digital is most reliable.

Oddly enough - not always. My friend works in another electrical store where they sell Maxtors for a good price (for the highstreet) and so has been cracking many of these open to sell to customers who just want the drive - He's seen Maxtor's with Seagate's, Hitachi & even WD drives...

For anyone wondering what drive is in this, I recently emailed Seagate after grabbing mine for £60 thanks to an Amazon mis-price, and got the following reply...

Dear Jack Green,Thank you for sending your Seagate E-mail inquiry.Without … Dear Jack Green,Thank you for sending your Seagate E-mail inquiry.Without the serial number I will not be able to tell you exactly what drive is in the enclosure but i'm more than certain that it is a 7200.11 SATA drive. If you have any additional questions, please let me know.Regards,AndrewPhone: 800-732-4283 (North America)00.800.4.SEAGATE (Europe)1 800 759 109 (Asia, Australia and New Zealand)Web: http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/

It is worth remembering that the 7200.11 is the best drive they make in the 1.5TB size - but they also make AV and other assorted much slower drives in the 1.5TB size so using this drive in a PC could be risky - it'll work fine but if you get the AV drive it'll be quite slow.

I got the 1.5TB Maxtor one from Scan on the "Today Only" offer over the weekend.

£96:59 including free next day delivery (Hexus forum contributor) I wasn't expecting free delivery to be next day!

Glad to know I wasn't ripped off anyway. Knowing Scan, they might well have them on Today Only again quite soon.

I can assure you that the speed and performance of the maxtor drive is as fast as any other external drive ive used, dont know where your getting all this info about maxtor using really slow drives from.Fir anyone considering the maxtor over the seagate ,have a look at the reviews 1st on ebuyer.com and decide for yourself but as it has an extra years warrenty ,few pounds cheaper, looks identical and is manufactured by the same company I know what one id go for.For anyone wanting an internal drive, have a look at ther samsung 1.5tb drive that was posted here yesterday at £80 delivered also from ebuyer.com.

I'll be looking for anew backup drive soon, looks good price for the size
