Nice find. Using this drive now. Nice & quiet & powers off when not in use.Seems a good simple drive.

Cheers hdizzle, voted cold as well cause I have just bought one after seeing your post. Make me waste another £60..lol

Great price, can't believe how much HDD's are dropping in price these days.

Anyone have any experience of these drives ? It's a bit concerning that it looks to have no ventilation ?!

will this drive work with the nintendo wii???

Can I toast bread with it?

+ £5 Delivery charge, if you cant collect

No, it wouldn't get anywhere near hot enough.

When do we start getting these new, faster drives?

These are the new SATA 4 drives that will replace the Sata 3 drives that are slowly coming onto the market.
By the time these new hard drives come out with the new 4k sectors, SSD hard drives will no doubt have come down in price and will be used instead of the current/new Sata hard drives.
And by mid 2011 USB 4 will be all the rage.
Do not think Microsoft will be too bothered about this as they are trying to get everyone to move away from XP as support is stopping in June this year, so anything that advances the XP demise will only be welcomed by Microsoft.
Also Mid 2011 Windows 8 will be out so who knows what the requirements will be for it.

Ok. I'm getting close to needing more space but I thought maybe if faster drives might be appearing relatively I might hold out. Thanks for the info

Seagates seem good at first, but I've found that they're one of the quickest HDD brands to die. Its happened to me a couple of times, and a buddy of mine who repairs computers says he comes across it quite often.... that is, a large percentage of failed HDDs he sees are Seagates. I won't be buying one again in a hurry, will stick with WD for now.

Only ever used Seagate drives and never had one fail on me yet, in all the years I have used them.

I have just ordered this one. Already have the 500gb version, but this is too good to turn down at this price. My 500gb one cost £45 about 2 months ago.

As for your mate seeing so many Seagate drives, maybe thats because they are be worlds biggest seller of HDDs, and they would be in a lot of PCs and other branded HDDs. Plus they usually have very good warranties on them, so they wouldn't offer them if they failed a lot.

bummer - voucher only works as a one off, so buying two drives means just £5 off....which is off-set by the £5 delivery anyway.

Shes some size though, you could sleep on it

ordered today but for some reason cant go through quidco or topcashback or hotukdeals to the the tesco direct site as the linkage doesn't work

Ordered, thanks!

Anyone know what size this drive is. 2.5 and USB powered?

Erm.. its around 1Tb in size (1000Gb) as in the title and its likely to be 3.5" and require an external PSU.

USB 3.0 will be coming on to the market very soon, I think this is why your seeing such a drop in the standard 2.0 USB, as the 3.0 is really going to take over!
