I got the 'Click of Death' within a few days

just one of (129) 1-star reviews was abut to order will stay away now not worth the hassle of losing your data

Ive had the 1.5 tb hd for year and a half now without any issues. Think its the seagate barracuda drive in these.

Pretty good and a great price, something just telling me to hold off for a while

AVOID - crap Seagate firmware screws up their drives. Don't waste your money

I agree.. to an extent.

All manufacturers have good and bad drives.

Anyhow, I'm voting hot.

Just based on those reviews I wouldn't touch this even at that price.

Is tht 2.5 or 3.5

I've got the 1tb version for 2 yrs now and it is still functioning as it should, voted hot

Not sure how the firmware and all that jazz would differ between the two, but I got the 500GB Seagate Expansion Hard Drive probably about 16 months to 2 years ago and haven't had a single problem with it. I still regularly use it infact.

Think I'll vote hot on that basis - plus my 500GB was around £60 at the time now, so for a 2TB option at a similar price, that seems pretty amazing.

Seagate oO

I think your find Seagate do more then 1 type of 2TB drive oO

I had a 1.5tb about 6-8 months ago that I eventually sent back. I wouldn't touch these ever again. From the day I got it, it had a constant clicking sound. I eventually looked it up on the internet and it tends to be a sign that the drive is gonna die. It's a major problem with these seagate drives just look it up on google, I'm pretty sure Seagate have even acknoweldged it.

Nearly same here. Mine work OK for a period while then starts clicking for a while and then back to normal again. I have used the Seagate testing tools which says the drive is OK but I cant trust it so only use it a tempory drive for use with my media player.

Gone up to £67.90 (9.34hrs)

I have just bought one of these at weareelectricals.co.uk for the same price.

These drives are pants - avoid unless you like it going "clickety-click" followed by complete data loss!

Go for a samsung story - 68 quid on play.com and far more reliable!

strawberry.

oops, wrong thread.

The deal is good but the item is questionable. I'd rather put my data on a pen drive.

Also have had 2 Seagates that have failed me so I won't be buying any more.

Now £67.90. Expired?

Drive (not the op deal) would not start after flashed firmware.

Seagate did not want to know even though drive was in warranty. Communication seemed to be that they just don't care. Terms state void warranty if drive flashed so they told me but I could not find it in their terms & conditions.

Bought it! And it arrived today. GREAT price.

got one of these, seems ok so far but after googling i am waiting for it to fail each time i use it.

Got a 1tb one of these, absolutely no troubles in over a year of daily use. For every bad review there's probably thousands of happy customers.

had one for about 2 years, 1tb that is and never had any probs... HOT

I have the same model, had it since xmas just gone with no problems.

That is from the seagate forum site and is them admitting there was a problem. However, they do say they have addressed it although the one I bought after this date still had the same problem. I'm not saying that everyone is gonna have this problem but you should be aware of it before purchasing.

If you dont trust it dont use it, if its under warranty i power up the drive and slam it firmly onto a carpated flood as to leave no marks, this usually makes the drives returnable without a problem (NB: May require 2 slams to the deck) ;-)
