was trying to find if it was 9.5mm drive the same as the other one i had in amazon basket but it IS that one
anyone else confirming as a bit paranoid?!
15mm height is fatter than most compatibles i think but were a few confirmations in previous threads... could there be different iterations of this drive though?

same price on amazon btw but 1-2month wait

Is this the one with the Samsung M9T drive in?

Good price, great for Xbox One just plug in USB and go.

I looked up the EAN and this is the STBX2000401 which is the fatter drive.
The 2TB super slim Seagate model is STDR2000202.

You can tell the difference as the enclosure on the super slim has rounded corners.

The older model with the fat drive does not.

Could you take this apart and use the hdd in the ps4?

Possibly wrong picture, but description says portable.

Could this fit in a macbook pro if taken apart?

Here is the slim version sold by Argos for £20 more:

I can confirm that the 2TB Seagate Expansion has the exact same M9T drive inside as the Slim. Got one from Argos last week. Normal Sata connector. The Seagate Slim is nicer looking but its tricky to extract the drive from the Slim without damaging the metal case. If you plan on re-using the enclosure then the Expansion is a lot easier to open up without damaging because its plastic.

I can confirm the confirmation - I did the same a couple of weeks ago. And yes they can be used in a PS4.

Good price for 2TB storage!

I'll be very interested in seeing proof that this'll fit a PS4 as I'd certainly buy a couple.

Can anybody confirm if I can remove the drive and install it in the spare internal hdd slot on my Mac mini?

I think I bought this at £65 @ Argos just last week Brilliant price HOT!!

Reserved. Thanks

Oh I was intending to remove it from the caddy but obviously if I do this it will invalidate the warranty and judging by some the reviews it will die after a couple of months so would be left with a door stop.

Is the casing made of metal? Or, which other hard drives have metal casing? Tx.

I bought this before it dropped in price, that's slightly unfortunate but I had a £10 voucher to use so not too upset.

It's got plastic casing - the casing itself is kinda bulky BUT the drive inside is definitely the 9.5mm high 2TB Samsung M9T. It can be opened by jamming a credit card into it

Those 1* reviews are for the 3.5" desktop version and not the 2.5" portable version. 452 5* vs. 21 1*.

I bought a 2TB in Argos they give you a £5 voucher for over £50 spend I think it is.

Let's hope the slim ones last more than a week

someone posted this video in the comments the last time this hard drive was posted for £64.99

looks like it would work fine on the ps4 and you can reuse with the case unless you butcher it when disassembling

false prophet

Let's hope the slim ones last more than a week

3.5" caddies have a lot more to fail on them, the power supply can fail or the 12-5v converting hardware can fail, which is common since these external drives are made as cheap as possible and not really designed for 24/7 use

2.5" have a lot less to fail

Just bought one and immediately dismembered it. I can confirm this contains a 9.5mm high drive with SATA connections. So it will fit a PS4 or lappy or mac mini or whatever.

EDIT - Just found the M9T sticker on the back of the drive!

many thanks got it

reckon I should get this or pay a bit more for a different brand like WD?

Got it and it's currently backing up my images. Seems pretty nippy but like most you will need to reformat it for it to work on a Mac.

seems a good price.

Fantastic price for 2Tb

Bought one last time and took out of the enclosure to put in my ps4. Works fine.
Now do i buy one for my ps3 for if/when it supports an internal drive bigger than 1tb

Spending a fortune while off work.....cheers OP!

Reserved, just what I needed, thanks!

Many thanks OP - reserved and collected from Argos Manchester Arndale. Now busy backing up!

Yeah, the ratio of 1-stars isn't as bad for the 2.5" as the 3.5"- but still quite a lot. For those intending to remove the drive, it seems a bit risky unless you are able to replace drive in chassis without losing warranty? That nice saving becomes a £60 loss.

But it gets a good review here anyway
