Seagate Expansion desktop drive, add-on storage for your PC
The Seagate Expansion desktop drive provides extra storage for your ever-growing collection of files. Add space for more files instantly, consolidate all your files
to a single location, or free space on your computer's internal drive for improved performance.

Set-up is straightforward. Simply plug in the included power supply and USB cable and you are ready to go. It is automatically recognised by the Windows operating system, so there is no software to install and nothing to configure. Saving files is easy too, just drag and drop.

Take advantage of the fast data transfer speeds with the USB 3.0 interface by connecting to a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port. USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 for additional system compatibility.

System Requirements

  • Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP SP3 (32-bit and 64-bit) operating system
  • SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port (required for USB 3.0 transfer speeds, or backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports at USB 2.0 transfer speeds)

WD Recertified drives are a very good option on a budget, 4TB currently £54.99. I've had several recertified drives from WD, no problems with any of them.

What drives do the recertified external have inside them?

I've never personally opened them or been particularly concerned but if memory serves then I've read that they have Greens inside.

Looks like the re-certified 4 TB MyBook is currently OOS but you can setup to be notified when they're back in stock. You'd be brave to put this on as a separate deal, some snobs on here poo-poo them in a heartbeat
excellent!! cheers!!
Seagate Barracuda leaves a nasty stigma.

Does this drive contain an IronWolf - the same sounds good as does Kia Stinger.
Anyone know if this drive is any good for shucking?

Haha yeah I wouldn't make it a deal, they're regularly on offer at decent prices and they have been posted here several times before so I presume most people who are looking for this kind of thing are aware of them.
Ordered, thanks OP - heat added
I bought a 4 tb Samsung Drive for much more than this. Gonna order it now! Thanks
The western digital 4tb recertifieds are wd blue drives and, like the green drives they replaced, they park their head every 8 seconds BUT apparently you can’t use WDIDLE3 to disable or adjust it this!!

It'll be fine. Has to be usb 3.0 and minimum 256gb to work with xbox
Ordered for my XB1 X as 1tb on a system that forces you to install games is poor! Cheers OP.
I purchased the recertified drive a few weeks when it was higher in price. Is WDC known to reimburse the difference?

A negative... parking heads wears the drive out...
with wdidle you could change the default of every 8 seconds to 300 seconds or just disabled therefore prolonging the life of the drive
