I know it's a desktop and not to everyone's taste but thought I'd share it anyway as it seems really cheap for 4tb and I bought 3tb for roughly the same price instock, and you can either pickup or have free delivery also has a 2 year warranty

It would be a bit annoying if you're just looking for a laptop

Also available from ebuyer for the same price as Amazon. Yes you get next day IF you have prime but this is slightly cheaper hence why I posted it. You can collect this if you have one nearby or you can have free delivery. I don't get what the point of you commenting that was
Does anyone know what drives are inside

In my opinion Amazon has a better service and gives you peace of mind. Just wanted to put an additional comparison, many people do it here when they catch something. Usually Amazon is the preferred way if there's a 2£ difference or so.
Moreover CCL offers only a free 5-7 Day Economy, while Amazon free delivery without Prime is quicker.

They are pulling Reds or Whites depending on which factory they were assembled in i believe.. The whites need some work to work in an internal system.

Might be worth asking on reddit.com/r/d…der they are usually pretty good at knowing these things.

That's the subreddit i've been following! I'm probably stabbing in the dark and tbh buying iron wolf drives directly isn't much more and you keep warrenty and get an extra year!

If you drill down on the product code STEB4000200 for this external desktop 4TB version, you'll see in the specs that they are not specific about which drive you will get but the quoted spindle speed is 5900 RPM and the Seagate IronWolf 4TB ST4000VN008 runs at that speed. The Seagate barracuda 4TB runs at 5400 rpm and without checking all there other variants of Seagate 4TB's you might be lucky.

I know nothing of the insides/specs of hard drives and thought that they just made 5400 and then 7200 rpm. Thought the 5900 rpm was a misprint

    A Hacksaw ?
Just Joking... Many Windows 10, 8 or 7 users add a 4TB hard drive to expand storage. However, they cannot partition 4TB hard drive more than 2TB. On the internet there are many ways to overcome this one being to convert the new 4TB drive from MBR to GPT.

MBR is the abbreviation of Master Boot Record, which use the standard BIOS, supports up to 2TB capacity. And the GPT (GUID Partition Table) disk which uses UEFI (unified extensible firmware interface), supports disk with more than 2TB capacity. If you are thinking of partitioning a 4TB, you also need to check if the mother board is UEFI compatible.

    Good luck.
