You currently receive a £10 Argos voucher when you make a purchase £100 or more.

Is this 1x 5tb drive?. Didn't even realise they'd got above 4tb for the general public

where do u get the voucher from?

I'm pretty sure 5TB drives generally only came out about 6-9 months ago.
This post should get pretty hot. Amazon currently selling for £149.99

Great find OP. Isn't it a bit deceitful that they never show the power cord attached or the connection terminals in the photos?

That's true. But in the 70's they would have had a semi naked woman in the pic too.X)

Bring back the 70's

Seagate have just launched an 8tb drive to retail.

Are you sure it's not 2x4Tb ? Do you have a link? How much ?

6 8 10tb drives are available
16GB divx movies .. hmm
note .. this is more storage than NASA had during the Apollo moon missions !

Anyone know the RPM??

They have only been released to consumer retail channels very recently, up until now they have been hideously expensive drives for industry.

pocket-lint.com/new…ost

As they are so new they are hard to get hold of am but I'm sure there will soon be a lot of them around and some usb options too.

Great! So if I buy this, I can go to the Moon?

lol

This is a great price for a huge amount of storage. I remember paying this much for a Lacie 250GB external hard drive back in the day. What a fool i was.

I'm not a fan of Seagate drives, but this is a deal for 5tb

I guess its boring in space, need to watch a lot of movies.

Back in the day, a 5.25 inch full height 5 MB (yes 5 mega byte) was £4500.00

Another £25 off if you pay via AMEX

Good deal and its from Argos!

Paid £65 for an Amazon Black Friday lightning deal for a 3T (£21.66 per TB)

This is £24 per TB plus you get a £10 voucher!

Just reserved one

Have some heat (I remember paying more than this for an external FireWire 250GB drive!)
I know this is HotUKdeals - but I thought I'd mention that the Apollo missions data use could be measured in Kilobytes...
Seagates 8TB drive - not available to the consumer yet..(should that be the "prosumer"?)
WD have announced 10TB drives - release date 2017...

can these be pulled apart and used for internal drives....albeit it with no warranty

Thanks.

Plug into the Xbox One USB port and that is going to give you some serious space. (and you will still have the internal drive space)

"USB 3.0" you know what one looks like? (_;)

Be Aware - Dont Buy If you intend to Crack it open and use the drive in a PC

This drive has a cripped firmware, you cannot open the case up and take the drive out to use in a PC, the PC will not see the drive via SATA..

PITA as would be a nice cheap internal expansion

That is a lot of data to loose and knowing seagate drives prob just outside warranty

Would be ok set up in raid in a NAS drive though

Good deal... but if this baby goes down, that is a lot of data to lose!

as with all the larger drives

Yes I was thinking this exact same thing - I am paranoid about redundancy(engineering definition) If I bought this I would then have to buy another to back it up!

5TB of lost data is roughly the equivalent of an olympic sized swimming pool full of tears.

I bought the 4GB one last week for £99.99.

@fairytooth: hope these help.
