hot, but shame there is no docking station.

about time these portable 500gb drive came under £50, I got a refurbished one for £39.99, but I would happily pay an extra tenner for a new one

why? nearly all portable drives don't have docking stations. is a usb lead too much for you to copy with?

just looks nice in a dock

does anybody know if you have to plug it in the mains for it to work?

as i said last time this came up, i got one for my missus a couple xmas' ago.
great drive, taken all kinds of abuse from her, still works perfect

Still £10 more expensive than the 500GB Samsung Michael Jackson hard drive thats been knocking about. I`m sure I can cope with Michael Jackson on the front of it for a 20% saving.

Bought one of these the other day. Was happy to spend an extra tenner to get this drive than the hideous MJ one.

They also have the blue and red versions for the same price.

I got one of these drives about a year ago, and I love it. So great at carrying about with me and my laptop. It is very reliable and looks nice, and is silent so doesnt make mad noises like other ones. I have other portable drives but this one is by far the nicest.

I hope they bring out a 1TB version of this in the future as I've pretty much filled this one.

The Jacko drive for £38 pishes all over it

IF you can spare an extra £10, you can get an extra 140gb from Maplin

I have had this hard drive for over a year and have been very pleased with it... plus it survived a number of drops including down the stairs!

The Samsung MJ 500Gb was less than £50 and there have been a couple of deals recently on 640Gb at £55 and less so this ain't blazing HOT - voting COLD to keep the heat down ;-)

if you mean the drive you got was a good buy then not really as its a desktop drive not a portable like the freeagent.

yeah, my second Hard drive was always gonna be USB powered one, I hated having to find a power point and power up my old one eveyrtime I needed to get something especially when it a very small thing I needed and it was ten times a day

ive had my portable for a couple of months now and its soooo much better, if you are constantly getting and taking things off and on your hard drive, get a USB powered one, yes you dont get as much for your money but you pay for the portability and convenience

am in the markey for one of these, but see the michael jacko one is £10 quid cheaper, but apparently you cannot format the the MJ one using ntfs...? Can anyone confirm or not ? Does anyone know if this seagate one can be formatted using ntfs (to allow for file size over 4gig)

Thanks
