There are tons of other alternatives too, all better than the one OP mentions

There is a new FreeAgent Theater+ with HDMI out and full 1080p
Like the method of docking your hard drive on these

Don't find this very cheap when it will need a ~£50 drive to go with it and has no tuner, but will sit on the fence as far as heat goes!
