Of course you can do a lot of things. But this is one of the fewest HDD …Of course you can do a lot of things. But this is one of the fewest HDD that Microsoft is also selling directly (since it is designed for the console) and it looks pretty, haha.

It's not "Designed for the console", at all. It's a bog standard Seagate HDD in a green enclosure. I use one with my PS4 (I use a smaller, 1TB HDD with my Xbox One), because I'm evil like that.

It'll work just great, but no better or worse than any other decent USB 3 HDD

All USB 3 external drives work wih Xbox one and xbox 360 only needs usb 2... that said it's not a bad price and you could save only a few quid buying a 2TB usb 3 drive else where..

Depends how you look at it. Microsoft is selling it, it also has a Xbox logo on it, so I'd say it is designed for Xbox, regardless of whatever is inside the enclosure. You can also count Xbox and PS4 as PCs (inferior form) and tell everyone who says a console is a console, it is a PC! These are all point of views mate. Of course, I posted this as a choice for whoever is looking to buy one, if you think it is not for you then you are clearly in the wrong place...

"Designed for" implies that something is different about it that differentiates it from any other USB 3 HDD. There is exactly 0 difference between this and any other USB 3 HDD, other than the Drive used, which varies by manufacture. What bit, other than the logo is Designed for the Xbox exactly?

It will not work any differently on Xbox One than any other drive, and of course it works perfectly well on any other platform. If you had read my post, you'd have noticed that I already own one for crying out loud.

Yes but this bog standard Seagate usb 3 HDD was designed for Xbox
For a pound less you can buy a refurb 4TB WD external drive @ WD.

Might come with some bloat ware on. But you can connect to a laptop or PC and delete the partion and merge it with the rest to regain full amount of storage. These work on PS4 (so I see on google) so I assume they will work with Xbox.
£58 for a 2TB in store at Tesco which does exactly the same job. You could even paint an X on it if you fancy! Still, if you want branded, this is a good price.
Seems expensive for 2TB? I only paid £30 more for a 4TB

Heat added as it's you:)
Ive had a few different xbox ones and a few different external hard drives (samsungs, seagates) all at one point had a problem with the x1 (either not reading and having to format loosing all the games etc) but since i got this seagate xbox specific drive NOT 1 PROBLEM

Yeah it is designed for Xbox users to match the console design. I never said it does not work on anything else. You are judging based on technical design, I am talking about appearance....

Where?
A hard dirve is a hard drive..however I'm more interested to see if this HDD is optimized in anyway for the console use. Does anybody know please?

If there is evidence it has good read/write speed and is reliable (non common/known issue) hard drive, then personally I think not bad price for the form factor too. Still I think 2TB is still too small lol but thats just me too lazy to delete the game I don't play anymore

I highly doubt. It is only the appearance. It is designed to match the console design.

When I turn on my Xbox One, the first screen and the dashboard are all in green... Seriously, no need to be a clown. I tried to help, if you feel it is not good just vote cold. I honestly don't care.

Edit: Putting this here as well.

Can't remember the whole process but I think you simply connect it to the PS4. Go to storage and you will see it. Select it and the PS4 will ask for permission to format it. Once formatted you will be able to install games and DLC to it. You can also select it as your primary HDD (so anything you install or download will auto go to the external instead of the interna).
You can get a 4TB portable (no external power supply needed) Seagate for 110 at Argos, twice the space for less than double the price

You sure, it wasn't that long ago it wasn't possible to get above 3tb without external power? I mean yay if you now can, just curious.

I purchased the green 4TB from GAME a year or two back for £140 (roughly) ...not my proudest moment as I am sure I could of got it cheaper elsewhere!
It does look nice and I wanted it for this very reason. I am sure if they did a blue version for PlayStation or a red version for Nintendo, people would pay that little bit extra.

£52 for the same thing in a less garish colour of your choice and from a manufacturer I trust more
I wonder whether the HDD within the enclosure will have a SATA connection (to allow you to re-use it within a laptop, NUC or desktop) or a soldered on USB board - if anybody does buy and decides to open up the enclosure case please can you let us know. Cheers :-)

Seagate portable drives have a normal SATA connection in them however WD 2.5" portable drives don't and the USB is physically on the drive.

Heat from me,

What are Seagate drives like nowadays? know they went through a long patch of regular failures but I've not tried one in years!
Possibly slightly OT, but has anyone else had problems with games installed and played from an external hard drive stuttering or hesitating during normal play? And if so, what was the solution?
