My first deal. Price 29.97 & 19.99 respectively for the 2 devices.

Seagate GoFlex Net Media Sharing Device available at PCworld for £29.97 (clearance price, previous pcworld price was £60 as per tag at PCworld wakefield). There seems to be a glitch on pcworld website and even though product is still available in store, it is not shown on the website. The same on amazon is priced £69.99 and a lot more elsewhere plus delivery charge amazon.co.uk/Sea…mr0 So anyone needing a cheap upgrade to a NAS drive will just need to pay £29.99 and the device has two slots for seagate GoFlex or GoFlex Pro ultraportable drives or any USB storage devive via the usb port. Anyone who finds the pcworld link please update on this thread, i have searched for almost an hour but cant seem to find the link on pcworld website even though the device is being still sold instore.

I bought the Seagate drive 2TB pcworld £79.99 online only deal posted on HUKD yesterday on this link hotukdeals.com/tag/dea…237

But the above drive is a USB2.0 one but can be upgraded to USB3.0 by changing the base unit as described by Chanser hotukdeals.com/tag/dea…237
But the amazon price for the adapter is £21.16 + £8.99 shipping. So queried for this adapter at pcworld after buying the 2Tb drive. There seems to be some glitch on pcworld systems where instead of pcworld.co.uk/gbu…tml costing £34.99 product code 093280 they give the same adapter instead of the adapter cable for £19.99 pcworld.co.uk/gbu…tml product code 516743. They seem to have mixed up the codes probably and standard delivery is free unlike at amazon, making a saving of nearly £10.

So I paid £79.99 for the 2TB drive with usb2.0 adapter and will swap it with the 19.99£ USB3.0 adapter and thus have a 2TB USB3.o drive for £99.98 plus for £29.97 can make this drive and anyother usb drive into a NAS drive. Hope this helps more people get these deals. Total expene for 2TB usb2.0 drive + USB3.0 adapter + network storage adapter = £79.99 + £19.99 + £29.97 = £129.95 and can upgrade memory or interfaces as needed.

Can someone upload the images please if needed.

£20 to make a drive usb 3 seems like a lot of money

Can you explain how this works. I have a standard USB external drive (maxtor). By buying this can I turn it into a nas drive to use on my network?
Thanks

The NAS adapter is the real deal here as it is £69.99 plus delivery on amazon but i got it for £29.97 at pcworld. As to how it works see link seagate.com/www…Ehw

if you want a USB3.0 drive then you can either buy a USB3.0 drive or buy a cheaper usb2.0 2TB seagate drive and add this adapter. Check for yourself whow much a usb3.0 segate 2tb drive costs and see how much my deal was and decide whether it is a good deal yourself! I think i made loads of savings here and will use the features as my laptop has USB 3.0 connectors and will use the NAS features as well by using my existing drives as nowhere i could achieve that by spending an additional £29.97. I am extremely happy with the deal i got and i do hope someothers get these deals as well if they need the USB3.0 and NAS features.

I dont seem to have posting a link privileges and have to wait for moderator to approve replies with links on how the NAS adapter works, so R_C please wait for my reply to be approved.

Edit: that was quick, post number three was approved after i posted post4

for some reason the links in the original post dont appear as links, so reposting the link for the usb3.0 adapter here pcworld.co.uk/gbu…tml

and the same for the amazon NAS adapter amazon.co.uk/Sea…mr0 but DONT BUY FROM AMAZON as clearance price at pcworld is £29.97 but cant find the link on their website but is available in store on their shelves.

For how this works, see the link in post3 by me or the amazon explanations.

Seagate GoFlex Net Media Sharing Device has two slots which accept only Seagate GoFlex portable drives and one USB 2.0 port to which you can attach any external drive. I presently plan on using the usb option to plug in any of my existing drives or later may try to attach a powered USB hub (if i can find my usb hub) to attach more drives via the same usb port. Hope the hub option works as then can use my older lower capacity drives rather than having to buy the slimmer drives that fit the slot. Please note for the slots you need goflex portable or goflex pro portable drives and not the goflex desktop drives as the latter are fatter and apparently dont fit the slots as told to me by pcworld chap. I wouldnt have bought a NAS option if it was costlier and only bought it because of the offer. Havent tried it but read somewhere that a printer can be attached to it to work as a network printer. Hopefully someone else can confirm that as I am a layperson and not a techie.
