Pretty good deal on this drive. Cheaper than anywhere else. Lightening deal.

  • IronWolf is an ideal companion for your NAS for 24 × 7 remote access, backups and file sharing from anywhere, making sharing ideas easy
  • Dual-plane balance and rotational vibration sensors mitigate vibration in multi-bay NAS enclosures for consistent performance and reliability
  • RAID optimisation increases performance and reliability with error recovery control for better data integrity
  • Enhanced power management saves energy and delivers power when the NAS needs it most
  • With workloads of up to 180 TB/year on IronWolf, multiple users can confidently upload and download data to a NAS server

That is a very good price think it is the lowest ever for this drive or mighty close to being the lowest
Cheers OP - been looking to snap one up and would have missed out without the post. Many thanks!
Good deal for a light-up hard drive
This is a really good deal. I'm glad to see larger drive capacity drives are coming down. I'm tempted but I already have 28TB of raw storage with about 35% unused.
Could I use this as a normal desktop drive?

Yes. There are some special features but they wouldn't get in the way of standard desktop use.

You can put it any desktop pc with a sata interface. Or stick it a usb enclosure.
Can this be put in a PS4 or Xbox 1
Check your amazon account for top up deals. I bought a £50 voucher and got a £5 bonus. Made this £81.99.
I was looking at this drive 2 days ago thanks OP
Limit one per customer, which seems daft for a NAS tailored HDD.

So you're only using about 18TB of that storage? What are you doing, collecting SETI data?
good price but limit 1 per customer = why bother

I'm also a bit weary of seagate products, from personal experience, even though I know that the reality is that all manufacturers have about the same rates of failure.

No as it's a 3.5 inch drive, games consoles use a 2.5 inch drive like in a laptop...could be used extrernally in a caddy though...
Cracking deal. Wish I could have bought more than one. Put some Christmas vouchers to good use!

Let's hope he discovers a life form with advanced data storage technology.
Good price and good product! Will snap one up for future use!
Would this be any good for a Cctv Dvr?
OP! Heat added! Thanks for posting

It wasn't, I've been watching this and the red 4tb. Cheapest Red was £112 cheapest this was 96 inc postage.

Both the drives were included in this indepth review, inc noise levels us.hardware.info/rev…sis

The seagate 4tb got the nod over the red because although it was slightly noisier (hoping not too much) it was quicker and had a few more features.

This is the cheapest it has been. Glad some people have found my post useful. I got one for my nas as well. Had a bit of trouble with WD Reds so trying seagate.
I would ask myself that but then there is
/r/DataHoarder in reddit. Each person stores something different, and lots of GBs of it.

It’s a lightning deal and thus restricted to one per person at that price. You can buy as many as Amazon have in stock if you’re willing to pay full price. Lightning deals have always hadthis stipulation.

Good deal for a light-up hard drive

Light-up?
Really good deal but I'll pass as I was looking for multiple drives for a NAS
Great price, but the lightning deal one per customer limit is not really suitable for NAS drives. The whole point of these is that you can put multiples in one enclosure and they have RAID features, vibration sensors etc. If you are buying just one, is this really the right drive for your needs?

Its better to buy multiple drives from as many sellers as possible. Especially for a NAS. THat way, if a seller has a faulty batch, you limit your chances to be affected by it.

I share that way of thinking, twice as likely to have half the problem.
