Quite agree, something like this really needs to be purchased from a store, at least you can check it before you buy then. Also good to see if it has adjustable vials, as that way you can ensure it's properly calibrated before you start putting up loads of cupboards, and of course a laser line in conjunction with this, will make jobs tiling and kitchen fitting even easier.

Although I wouldn't want it delivered, because at this length it would easily be damaged:-(, it's a great price for a fairly decent level of this size. Heat added:thumbsup:

Thanks for the above advice chaps.
NEARLY went ahead as the longest I have is 1 mtr.

Mind you, mine gets dropped & thrown around a bit too.:)

2 mtr length would be nicer tho.

But the longer it is the more prone to being made inaccurate by bending/dropping.

No problem, mind you bear in mind this is very much a DIY level, lightweight box aluminum, so at this length, it won't take much knocking about.A more professional, and much stronger option, would be something like a Stabila, or Wickes pro range (red ones), which cost around £25-£45 for something about this size, but will last well. All depends what you want it for, this wouldn't really be suited for outdoor work, as it'd be too easily damaged, but for a few cupboards, it's probably not worth spending much more than this, or buy a better, slightly shorter level, as ultimately it's better to have a shorter more accurate level, than a longer inaccurate level, oh and good eyesight helps!

Yeah, because builders don't use vans do they, they wrap all their tools in cotton wool and then the fairys deliver them to site.:whistling:

Says heavy duty so should take a few knocks.

think 1800mm is the longest . this will NOT arrive bent , you dont get geoff capes bending em over his head before theyre delivered to you ....to bend one you would forcefully hold it like a pick axe and whack something hard with it and im sure even the worse couriers dont do that . not saying that the vials wont get damaged though .
easy way to tell if a level is accurate is lay it across something and note exactly where the bubble is then rotate the level 180degrees and if the bubble is in the same position ( which it should be ) then the level is accurate .

Had a rethink so looked at ordering.

Is anyone else finding this.

I'm not sure what you'd want it for, but If I was you, I'd have another rethink before ordering, yes it's called 'heavy duty', but then so are cheap batteries in Poundland, it's basically a standard level, it's a thin .9mm thick aluminum box level, it's main weak point will be the centre vial, especially on this size, as if dropped or knocked on it's side, it may bend out of true. However, it's not all bad, took a look at the website, and in amongst all the drapers is a 1.2 or 1.8m silverline level, for about another £10.It's made with metal twice the thickness, 1.8mm, and is ribbed along it's length (no jokes!) so will be much stronger, and is just as accurate, so ultimately a better option if you're looking for something to last you.

You are right Hal.

Abstained!

Agreed if you want to buy a quality level then Stabila is your best bet i've had my 1.2m cast aluminium stabila level for 30 years it probably doesn't look as good as the day i bought it but then it has had some stick and abuse over the years but still spot on accurate.

No way will this be delivered straight by a courier the lad in the warehouse that probably hands it to the courier will have already run over it with the fork lift truck several times :-D:-D:-D
