Feeling down at this time of year It could be S A D seasonal affective disorder

This is the cheapest I've found .72 high intensity LEDs provide a full spectrum reading, working or background light source. Used in the treatment of SAD (seasonal affective disorder), full spectrum lighting provides a more natural light than conventional yellow tungsten bulbs or harsh fluorescent bulbs.

Just buy the bulbs for your fittings at home.

We have one it's pretty good actually.

Are Full Spectrum and Daylight Bulbs SAD Lights?

No, not at this time. Unfortunately due to clever marketing many people believe they can get a SAD Light treatment just by buying a full spectrum bulb or daylight bulb but this is factually incorrect.

This is misleading as unless the bulb emits 10000 lux they cannot be classed as powerful enough to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder. At this time there is no standard bulb, full spectrum bulb or daylight bulb that is powerful enough to treat SAD. The bulbs emit a pleasant light that can reduce tiredness and give better visual accurity but their benefit in treating SAD is unproven and not based on any medical evidence of which SAD.org.uk are aware.

You are meant to sit approx 30cm away from it, pretty hard to do when it's on a ceiling rose.

I realise that! I posted that quote in response to the comment about just buying the bulbs just so people that wish to do so know what they should be buying.

How would this work if used to provide artificial light to plants/seedlings? Would it be the correct spectrum?

Already got a SAD light but would be sweet if it would also help when establishing my chilli plants

Nothing illegal growing I trust Lol

Many of these lights are less than 10000lux (and therefore cheaper) and thats probably why its been voted cold. BUT there is clinical evidence that these do have an effect at 10000 lux and above.....

The SAD.org website is a good one to look at for more info...

I think you are missing the point... if you have SAD basically this will help as daylight hours are reduced in the winter months.
