These little Engines have been around for a long time now and I have traded in various examples with more than 150k miles on them and running well. How you ask??? Service history.. I have also noted 3+ litre Diesel engines with less than 100k ruined with DPF filter failures causing subsequent component failures to Turbos and Injectors etc.... Dont believe the nonsense from People who see a small engine and automatically think it won't last. My little 50cc Mower is over 20 years old and running like clockwork. Petrol engines run cleaner, leaner and meaner. Period.

Test drove this a few weeks ago - much much better than the 1.0 spec makes it sound...

Too slow for me but hot price! I really like the look of this car.

Did you load whole boot of stuff and another 4 people inside while testing it? It's a ESTATE with 1.0....i mean, c'mon.

Stick to your mobility scooter..

same sort of power as a 1.6tdi golf/Octavia, Leon
I have had no issues with my Octavia when fully loaded up. modern small petrol with turbo/supercharger are the future not diesel.

60 more than the NVS deal the other week but assume thats expired now.

ive just ordered the SE tech as didnt like the spec on the S but its a good deal, mine is around 5500 for the se tech, same length and miles.

jeez 1litre. These engines won't last. They are so highly strung with turbo and superchargers. (I know its a lease).
Don't you feel like we are getting fobbed off with these tiny engines yet big cars. will be lucky to see it go past 100k mileage. where's the economy in that?
They should hand out Viagra when you take ownership so you can still feel like a proper bloke from time to time.

Until government realise they aren't getting the revenue they thought they would from the changes in road tax.

Nah, I'll take a 330ci for the same price!

Funny that

Does anyone know what the excess mileage charge is on this or has anyone got a price with 10000 miles or more? I'll almost definitely do more than 8000

Americans were saying that with their 5.0ltr V8s in the 80s.

The 1.0 petrol has the same bhp as the 1.6 diesel and a faster 0-60. Also because of the turbo the torque figure isn't too far off.

looks interesting, might sell the missus car and get her something like this. need to have a quick look what the back seats are like.... not for that. I have three kids and its just for space.

That's a ridiculous statement to make, a diesel engine has double the torque of this petrol engine

Not true.

it's a good deal, it's a lease, so longevity of the engine is of no concern to the one who takes up the lease. so who gives a monkeys about the whole diesel Vs petrol argument? anyone picking this, with it's 1.0 engine and 8k miles has no interest or intention of travelling up and down the motorway everyday. it will be for school runs and shopping trips, in which case it's ideal. rant over

VW TSi engines have no history of failures/issues do they...

Yes it is actually. Both have 115ps and petrol has 11 second 0-60, diesel 11.5 seconds. So what was untrue in my comment?

You need some mathematics lessons I think. This 1.0 petrol has 200 Newton metre of torque whereas the 1.6 diesel in the same car has 250. Is 250 double 200?

does this include your insurance? can't find anywhere on deal saying anything about insurance, do you have to sort this yourself?

this does not include insurance however does cover road tax and breakdown

Just read the review from Parker Guide.

"the 1.6-litre TDI is the company car driver’s choice, with 115hp and low running costs. We’ve not driven this engine in the Ateca yet but would expect it to perform broadly on a par with the entry petrol, which shares the same power output. The diesel has more torque, but is also heavier"

Hope that clarifies the argument above for the difference in torque.

Excellent deal thanks

Here's an idea if the DPF is causing problems, remove the bloody thing. It may make quite a lot of soot, however if you take it to your local garage for an MOT they will pass it as they will not have the ability to test the emission and even if they do the threshold is so high that even a 5.0TDI V10 will pass without an DPF. People always think that a DPF's are essential to a diesel however with my car if the DPF goes it will be having straight pipe!

Big car for the price. Went looking for a sub £200/month with one month deposit and looked at a juke, a c3 and the ateca the juke had more style but the ateca was a category ahead with its size. A little grey and bland inside and the s is missing a few niceties

These little engines have not been around that long and originally they were only tuned to 60 0r 75 bhp but tuning up to 115 bhp is a different story and the reason VW did not include it in their Tiguan.
But having said that it is a good deal.

Firstly, that's a lot of crap.
Secondly, even if your first point is true, why would you care? You're only going to have it for 16,000 miles and two years. And during the entirety of that time it'll be under warranty.

If the car goes for an MOT without it's DPF fitted it will fail the MOT. Don't you read motoring news stories?
