Second Chorus / The Duke Is Tops / Private Buckaroo (3 Classic Films On 1 Disc) £1.99 delivered @ Play

Second Chorus: Trumpet players Danny (Fred Astaire) and Hank (Burgess Meredith) have been avoiding graduation for seven years so that they can continue playing with their college band. They hire pretty Ellen Miller (Paulette Goddard) as the band's agent and, as she quickly increases their earning power, the boys find themselves with flourishing musical careers.

Ellen is one day hired as Artie Shaw's band manager and makes plans for Danny and Hank to audition for Shaw. Both however, are keen rivals for Ellen's hand and the tension between them sees them attempting to foil eachother's chances as they audition for Shaw.

The Duke Is Tops: Riding on the updraft of her successes in Cabin in the Sky and Stormy Weather, a very young Lena Horne makes her feature film debut in this all-black production as a singing sensation whose manager - in an unusual plot twist for the era - sacrifices his ambition for her sake.

Private Buckaroo: When bandleader Harry James and singer Dick Foran join the army, Sgt. Mugsy (Shemp Howard) tries to get them ready for the big fight overseas, but they'd rather chase girls and play music. At night everyone goes to the USO dance to hear the Andrews Sisters sing songs like "You're in the Army Now," "Six Jerks in a Jeep," and "We've Got a Job to Do." Harry James wails on the trumpet, and everybody dances.
