Because he was trying to help? Nice way to welcome a new person to the community. You could at least be constructive.
This place turns into a bitchfest at times...see if you don’t like a deal? Don’t buy it...equally don’t slate someone! I think it’s a great deal for someone wanting this spec.

It is a good deal bud. Take no notice.

It's painfully slow, had it one day last month and returned it. Took like 15 min to start up at times

Lol it's cool everyone I guess it wasn't a great deal. I will keep looking as I am trying to find something decent under £500

Thanks but don't like Acer
17.3 inch is quite for those who don't want to get an extra monitor.
OP, if you were thinking about buying this, don’t.

The AMD A9 processor is old and slow and it has a really slow disk drive (not even 7200 rpm). It’s too expensive for the money.
Yep someone has posted one today with a ssd and i5 but for some reason i cannot post a link

It was the Lenovo IdeaPad 320S at Curry’s I think. 8th gen CPU too but smaller screen. Personally I prefer 14” displays but I wouldn’t pay this much more for a 17” at the expense of the spec.

Some people would rather have storage capacity than access speed that’s why. We all have different requirements and needs hence the amount of choice and different specs on the market. Doesn’t suit you, that’s fine. Now let others choose for themselves
Welcome to the community. Not a bad finding, but not great as well. Just a solid deal I would say. Keep it up and you'll get there.

You should also point out in description it has dedicated Radeon R5 video card. It's crap for gaming as I've got one in my HP laptop, but (I guess) still better then Intel HD.

Nothing wrong with AMD processors. Intel spread all the anti-AMD sentiment and people just took it as gospel.
HP support is very poor to non existent from my experience. Not sure what support Argos could offer you in the first 12 months if any issues.

Mate ive been repairing and working with computers for 15 years + and its nothing to do with intel propaganda, its simply fact
Not a fan of the AMD processor, coupled with the mechanical disk is a thumbs down from me! Would give heat if it had an SSD
You're paying too much because of the form factor being 17.3". APU scores only 2311 and it has 1TB HDD. This is horrible performance for £449.

It’s not dedicated though, it’s integrated along with the CPU - hence the APU name. It shares system RAM which bottlenecks it even further and the actual processor is so slow it probably isn’t actually that much better than the Intel equivalent in day-to-day.

The OP hasn’t outlined what they want to do with the laptop but by now it should be clear this is not good value for money. It should be £299 or maybe £349 at a push. At £449 it at least deserves an SSD to go with the 5400rpm disk.

That’s a much better decision if you can take the smaller screen. Though just look at the differences between 7th and 8th gen CPUs before you jump in as 8th will be mainstream soon and the prices will drop to what this is (month or two at a guess).

It's 100% certain I can as I work as an IT refurbisher
"No ssd" posters out in force again (*sigh). Currently in need of a laptop for around this budget. Needs to fit everything I currently have on my current laptop (500+gb) on it.
Something like this will fit a lot of peoples needs, If you can find any deals better for us that are better please let me know (with links)
So I bought this laptop.

And it will be going back! So slow and unresponsive. It’s unbelievable just how bad is it. My 10 year old acer is quicker.
