I think that's a great especially as you get two pads and can play all region cartridges so get looking on ebay and 2nd hand shops/car boots!

The only minor negative is they've choosen a mix bag of games ranging from poor to excellent.

For all pc owners there are plenty of great sega emulators and roms around (just use google) get yourself armed with a usb pad and enjoy

MEGADRIVE??????????????

Theyll be selling the Atari next!! haha

Golden Axe............Bliss,lol.

Plays like crap to be fair, the sound is awful compared to a real Megadrive and the framerate is slower.

as above, plus it doesn't play all of the games, loads of compatability issues.

you could spend £15 on a game for the PS3 or Xbox, but heat added!

No HDMI so cold from me.

Just kidding, hot for nostalgia value.

POWER UP... God, I loved that game

See if I can get one tomorrow

Good price for what's pretty much the real thing! I bought a Mega Drive Reactor console for £15 from Morrisons recently for my grandmother. I only bought it so that she could play one game "Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine". It's great as it comes with tons of other games and the controllers are wireless. However, this deal is much better for the real gamers as you can use all your old Mega Drive cartridges with this one

Shame they dont up the quality abit really, as it would sell allot better. If SEGA were smart they would release a console with an online distrubution service catalogue of every master system, game gear, mega drive, saturn, dreamcast game. Sega dont seem to know what they are doing, they are half heartedly releasing DC games for xbox 360 Xbox live and disc and PSN but ignoring shenmue and powerstone among others. Crazy, they have so much potential aswell.

I don't believe there's actually a 'Sega' anymore. It's just a brand now, owned by other companies. That's probably why. But I'm with you on how great it would be if they did release a budget console with the ability to download all Sega games. But I don't think that will ever happen!

Yeah I think your right. there is no consistency in direction with Segas products. It like there is an arcade sega, a sega sammy sega, a sonic team sega, a sega for multi platform releases, a sega that makes urinal based games for Japanese toilets, a sega that releases retro releases on disc for various platforms, a sega that puts its name on cheap generic mutli media devices and puts them in afew rare arcade grabbing machines, a sega that sells its IP to 3rd parties to make retro based hardware. It goes on and on.
It doesnt help that Sega is pretty much owned by a Yakuza organisation not interested in helping the once great company. I wish they got bought out by Apple or someone to make them great again.

top console, heat!

I loved Shenmue on the Dreamcast, such a classic (sob). I am with the last two posters as in there should be a bargain Sega system to play all the Sega classics on.

Heat for Alex the Kidd on the Original Sega MegaDrive before they changed it to Sonic as a replacement :-)

If only todays games were as good as the 16 bit generation. This generation of games sucks my ass. Most of the included games are worth playing. Although get a real Mega Drive if you can. Heat added though.

Nice, might pick one of these up. I have near 100 Mega Drive games in the attic still.

Can you get a blank megadrive cartridge that will take an SD card? (e.g. for roms), I only found a few genuine cartridges at boot sales last year. They are increasingly hard to get hold of to play the old skool classics

Yes, but they aint cheap and can be a right faff Price is $80 here: tototek.com/sto…=59

Why don't Sega introduce a megadrive that can download games from the net through an app store?

Nonsense, the games today are incredible compared to 99% of 16 bit generation. Most are frankly unplayable due to poor collision detection and crap physics. we've never had a better time in gaming and it wil only get better.

That's excellent =).

Never had a better time in gaming? Yes, thank God those days of 50+ hours of gameplay are a thing of the past. I can think of nothing better than p*ssing the best part of £40 down the grid on an fps with at best 5 hours solo playtime or an adventure game that lasts less time than an omnibus episode of Bellenders. Who wants silly little things like an actual 2 player mode that doesn't feel tacked on. If you honestly think todays games are better you really are deluded.Yes they may be prettier but for most part they're wholly soulless experiences. Where's the heart today? The $ drives the publishing houses who drive the devs, next to no creativity and even less choice genre wise. Give me 16 bit tenacity and wit over todays gloss and frippery any day.

not sure if this is a "deal" as such.
however, as a product itself it is very tempting.
voted hot.

Amen

Junk. Get a Mega Drive from ebay or from a carboot with some decent games.. much better.

This sort of stuff is purely for collectors or the nostalgia & imo you need the real thing.

I picked up a real one with a few games for £20 boxed on eBay.

you've obviously never played the likes of fallout, fable, hard rain, limbo etc etc etc I could go on for hours listing all the wonderful new involving and inventive recent games but if you want wallow in a nostalgic haze that actual bears no resemblence to what the vast majority of the 16 bit games were then don't let me stop you.

Those with Androids can get free emulators from Market with a free ROM downloaded app. Runs great on my OSF with Froyo ...

I still have my megadrive, i gave it to my 5yr old and he loves sonic, i get games from carboots, and i have a snes as well which i also still play.

Nah is got to be Altered Beast....This game was played by me and my cousins every x-mas, provided hours of entertainment. Now i just go on like and play super mario and its brilliant. No matter how good the new games are the old ones will always win because they are deep rooted and take you back to a more simplier time.

Vinegar ****???...........not a flavour i have ever had

These do get really bad reviews... there not made by Sega and won't play like the old ones. Either remember the old days instead of trying to re-live them..or buy the real thing off ebay...

you must see that most games drop in price real quick, don't spend £40 on a game wait a few months and get it at least half price, look at Fallout Vegas, Fifa, Splinter Cell, Halo Reach all can be had for £20 and under. I am a collector and have megadrives and games and I think games now are great, Heavy Rain blew me away, Alan Wake, Uncharted, I would rather play these than Alter Beast

We have a Dreamcast and loads of great games like Powerstone and Shenmue. Whilst I agree that the graphics and story on some modern games are outstanding, there's a kind of charm and playability with the old consoles that is still very appealing.

They should re-release the Dreamcast with a bundle of it's best games. I am sure it would still sell.

The problem with this collection is that they keep re-releasing the same games over and over and over....

Whatever happened to the supposed Sonic complete collection for the PS3? All the games from 1 to the ps2 releases on blu ray

I'd say this is hot for anyone with a casual interest in playing some MeagDrive Games. But for anyone with a more serious interest I'd suggest spending the cash on a second hand original Megadrive.

WRT flash cartridges, I've just bought an Everdrive, which (as part of a group buy) cost me approx £40-£45 including P&P to UK. It will allow playing of games from a SD card on a real Meagdrive - I'm pretty sure however that the Everdrive will NOT work on the Blaze Megadrive - only a proper Megadrive. Everdrive URL is: krikzz.com/eve…tml

I agree, shenmue, powerstone and loads of others should be released, really. Powerstone was even great on the PSP!

great deal, I still have my megadrive+cd+32x in the loft, but would still be tempted to pick one up

This is emulation on a chip not real hardware; be aware then that sound and video quality may be crappy, also may not be 100% compatible with all games. The BLAZE megadrive handheld has those problems.

Better off spending £10 and getting a model 1 megadrive. Sure you don't get 15 titles but its real hardware and who the hell would pay for 15 roms! because that's essentially what it is just roms emulated on a chip you can do that on a pc.

Doubt the Mega CD and 32x work with this either.
At least the handheld had novelty value for being portable.

BLAZE is licensed out by SEGA to make these so its not really SEGA hardware just someone asked SEGA if they could make these. Oh and Wii has SEGA titles for download but again why pay for roms? Real stuff physical media yes because its collectable.
