This Sega Classic game console comes with your favourite SEGA games built-in, including all of the iconic Sonic series. Games include Mortal Kombat I, II, III, Virtua Fighter 2, Altered Beast, Phantasy Star series and the Sonic series.

  • Stereo sound, 81 classic games built-in, and two wired controllers.
  • Includes 81 classic games built-in; two wired controllers; stereo sound; original controller ports.

This not made by SEGA - this is built under license and the NTSC conversion that they use makes the audio/video run at a noticably slower rate.

Had one, sent it straight back. Sonic sounded like a strangled cat, I remember the audio being very fast-paced, lol, not any more.

Bargain. Tis all.

thanks

These emulators look cool but not really worth the money tbh

No streets of rage

Better off with a pi, that thing is awful a friend bought one

Many thanks OP, have been trying to find this again for a while. This is the one that has a cartridge slot so you can use old Mega Drive games and I have a box of them in the cupboard so was hoping to be able to try them out on this. Cheers.

Thanks Turkey, couldn't resist ordering one 😊

These are garbage. Look at youtube vids of sonic.

Don't buy this, the sound emulation is terrible for one, and half of the games are NOT Megadrive classics!, bugs me that Sega allowed their Megadrive legacy to be ruined by those clowns ATGames!!!

can you "save progress" on this?

What would you suggest instead?

Just read in the Q&A's that you cannot save game progress. Surely that makes this an utterly pointless machine.

These are meant to be rubbish which is a shame. I wish SEGA would stop letting these clowns make this. If Sega did a proper mini megadrive without the shovelware and not made by atgames, I know there is a newer one but it is not any better.

I watched some vids and the sound was exactly how I remembered the originals to be like. I'm going to give it a go and see.

From the last time it was at this price-

BubaMan9th Sep Not voting either way but I'll echo others in that it's a very bad emulator - the sound is out of tune and the channels are out of sync with each other. The gamepads use infrared so you need line of sight and you have to point the controller directly at the console all the time. If you think it's still worth £40, fair play to you but the poor emulation sullied the experience for me so I returned mine.

Look here at it playing sonic, sounds awful.

From what Ive heard, you may be better off getting the games from steam (which are just roms)when on offer and a cheap system to play them on.

these are awful, don't waste your money, the emulation and build quality is a appalling.will ruin any memory you have from those games.
sound quality specially is rubbish and nothing like the real thing or even other emulators.
controllers are very low quality and poorly made too.

No Streets of Rage? Rubbish!

It's made by AtGames. Their consoles are TERRIBLE!

Much better purchase would be aliexpress.com/ite…tml

while you only get 18 games included, it does work with every megadrive cart, and does support saving to them. Also, it's not emulated like the argos one, it's actually hardware on chip so sound is true to the original.

What's this Pi thing all about is it a console u can plug into your TV?? Or is it for PC??

Raspberry Pi - Linux-based micro computer (with HDMI)... cheapest currently at GearBest:

You can get some basic cases for £5-10 or you can get your geek on

Rather than a Pi, I'd recommend an Android TV box - easier to set up / maintain, a lot more versatile (ATV launcher with remote, video / audio streaming, light Android gaming, etc), better performance and cheaper overall.
Pi's are great for "projects" (robotics, home automation, etc) but I see them as overly complex for simple solutions like media playback and emulation.

I can't speak for the console in the OP but ATGames' wireless variant didn't have the best emulation (sound out of tune and channels out of sync)...
For £35, it's not a bad novelty gift and certainly a lot simpler than setting up an emulator for yourself so it'll be a nice present for a bit of fun over the holiday period
For anyone wanting a decent emulator for regular use, see above

Oh right! Cheers I think I'm gunna have to look into this. Does it come with emulated games on it or something? I've tried reading up on it on Wikipedia but it's massively technical on there. No idea what they're talking about haha.

Ah have just seen your edited response too. Thanks.

Wonder what the graphics would look like on a 65" 4K TV...? Anyone got one being used on a big TV?

No, it comes with very little actually but there's tons of tutorials all over the place on what you need and how to achieve it.

I updated my post with a recommendation to get an Android TV instead actually... For emulation, I think the Pi is a bit too much effort when simpler (and more flexible) solutions exist.
There's a definite sense of achievement that comes from tinkering with the Pi but it's a bit too much effort for some (me) when all you have to do to acheive the same with an ATV box is download a few apps from the Play Store

A lot of those games are shovelware. "Yawning Triceratops"?!? Hard pass, thanks.

I don't think the product in this deal is worth even £10 with the issues listed by others, when superior alternatives are available. It's a cheap cash-in by Sega, feeding of people's nostalgia. Don't be fooled, the games don't play as you remember them! This is not a dig at the op, as on the face of it, it looks like a good deal.

As an alternative, you could soft-mod an original Wii console to play megadrive and snes games. You can use official/unofficial controllers and easily save games. But you need to be fairly computer savvy to mod it, so as not to brick it by accident. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube as there are for the Raspberry Pi that's been mentioned, but if you/a friend have an old unused Wii kicking around what have you got to lose?!

Are the mame android emulators any good on those cheapo android boxes, the ones most use for KODI? (I presume that's the kind of thing your talking about?)

Yeah haha I think I'm gunna look into this android box. Sounds like more my kind of thing. I prefer a plug and play approach due to being a bit of a techno dimwit. Thanks for all the info. I certainly feel more savvy now. And also know that I'll be avoiding the Pi approach lol.
