It sucks that the ultimate version on 360/PS3 had a better list of games. No Sonic 3 or Sonic & Knuckles? Why remove games! Just seems cheap!

Heated it as it does contain some real classics, and a great buy for someone who has never picked up one of these collections before, but to someone like me who owns the collection on Steam and the last PS3/360 collection, there is virtually nothing new here. Problem with all these collections is because big companies just refuse to get on and share content for the good of their customers, you will only ever see games by the company putting out the collection, in this case Sega. While Sega, of course, developed loads of great games in their 16 bit heyday, there are probably just as many fondly remembered games e.g. Road Rash, Desert Strike, Micro Machines etc that were available for the Mega Drive but not developed by Sega so won't make it onto this collection.

Also the Disney games, which were huge back in the day and real system sellers, like Aladdin, Lion King, Jungle Book etc are all absent again because of rights issues. Copyright again conspires to compromise a promising retro collection

Apparently there are console specific titles in each release.

I think IGN meant titles exclusive to each compilation.

Yes but the each of those were released for a different generation of console/platform.
Finally a game that has tie jam and earl
finally decided to port it from Steam then..

No sonic 3 or sonic and knuckles or lock on due to copyright ? One of tbe best games on the system. Very poor effort
These collections are all well and good but the thing that annoys me is you could probably fit every single title on one Blu-ray disc!

Regular DVD or Dual layer at a push.

Tbf I'd have been loving this collection except I've just got a raspberry pi. I know I'm a little late to the game, but best 50 squid I've ever spent

Wouldn't put it past Nintendo
Not sure if this is worth it for those of us who have the PS3 collection and/or still have a Megadrive connected to a tv. Great for those that don’t though... Interested to hear more about any online elements of this release...

If it has achievements it's worth it in my opinion

If I have got the right lists this has the following games that the PS3 version doesn't:

Alien Soldier
Bio-Hazard Battle
Columns III: Revenge of Columns
Crack Down
Galaxy Force II
Gunstar Heroes
Landstalker
Light Crusader
Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi
Space Harrier II
Sword of Vermilion
The Revenge of Shinobi
ToeJam & Earl
ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron
Virtua Fighter 2
Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair
Wonder Boy in Monster World

But doesn't have:

Ecco the Dolphin
Ecco II: The Tides of Time
Sonic and Knuckles
Sonic The Hedgehog 3

It will no doubtbe a similar list to the last gen release, which admittedly was a pretty fun list to complete

Great decision to include Toejam and Earl!

These collections have always been a rip off, even more so now when it's so easy to emulate old console games on dozens of different platforms. You could do it on an RPi for about the cost of this disc alone.
Or cheaper again? Download a emulator. Wonder if these graphics playing on a modern tv would cause the TV to suffer from static burn??

Seriously. You can probably get Sonic for your toaster now.
Standard price
Would have liked to seen road rash on this list
It is the standard price .
Minus 14 pence

some of those were un-lockable (in the US version at least) according to Wiki.

Really strange is doesn't have Sonic 3 or S&K, surely can't be licensing as they are all Sega titles and seems odd given all the other's on the list.

I don’t think Nintendo have the ip ownership to decide how sega sells its games.

For emulation on a PC you can fit every Mega Drive game from all over the world quite easily on just a DVD - a bloke down at my local outdoor market used to sell them (along with all of the Master System games) for £5! He suddenly disappeared one weekend, never to be seen again but trading standards and the police went through a massive purge on sellers offering pirated software, counterfeit goods and and fake £1 coins and £5 notes that they were handing over to customers in their change so that might explain his disappearance.

After that, the normally massive market shrank to about a quarter of its size, never to regain its 'glory' from back in the day.

Which ones? I know they had Space Harrier arcade but I thought the unlocks were all master system or Arcade games?

Very unlikely on a modern TV - they've come a long way from ten years or so ago. I used to use my old Mega Drive (and other consoles) all the time on a colour TV (and we're talking many hours a day!) and there was no sign of any burn even on a TV from 20 years ago.

Yes, stealing things is definitly cheaper than paying for them.

Sega obviously went to nintendo with the game to offer it onto the switch platform... Nintendo said no as it would take too much away from the virtual console. *rumour*
