You definitely can. People are giving them away.

OK, show me where people are giving them away, I'd happily take one.
Good price, heat added. £25 too expensive for me though!

Heat added op
Bought the other eBay deal from gamecollection. Should've waited. Good price
I’m hoping Black Friday comes good with a deal on this but I may regret not taking this deal......

Aye course ya can. Anyway, i'd much rather pay £50.28 for an OG
Is this made by AtGames?

No, SEGA made this one, and M.2 did all the emulation stuff.

True, but an emulator and a couple of cheap controllers won't cost more than £10, which is exactly what this device does..

Found my old mega drive last month, plugged it in, and it worked, terribly. Not sure if the RF cable was dodgy or the fact it was hooked up to a new telly. I’d plump for this option if it were cheaper.
Does anyone know if these can be hacked yet?

Check Google, second hand shops, get some friends and ask them, car boot sales, auctions, family, family of your friends etc.

In a nutshell: Shops, people, and online (which is a mix of both)

FYI 'giving them away is obviously a figurative expression' - as if you're paying over £25 for a dusty old Sega megadrive you're being ripped off although that said if you have any friends or family they'll likely either give it to you or charge a fiver in my experience.

Otherwise use Google for more tips on how to search for used items online or at real life events / stores / used item centres / car boot sales.

It would be the TV, the original megadrive was designed for the old CRT displays. Modern large screen TVs are completely different tech and the graphics are stretched to oblivion on the large screens. The At Games one made it worse with p*** poor emulation. Hoping this Sega one is bit better?
Damn just paid 55gbp from amazon fr
It's my 2nd unit.. The first one had to go back to the game collection. Latency and lag on 4k TV made it literally unplayable compared to original carts. This one is more responsive......???!!!

Will bite at £19:99p
Will stick with my ATGames one that I got for £30 that plays Megadrive, Mega CD, 32X and Master System roms.
Bought, thanks @BuzzDuraband - haven't bought a Sega Console in while, very excited (1995 Sega Saturn lol)

Would pay £20 for nostalgia. Still got my old megadrive and games but there is so little reason not to emulate this sort of stuff now unless collecting is a hobby. Not like developers are being supported by a overpriced second hand market. Nice wee console though.
Anyone got a pic of what it looks like on a lcd tv? Is it all stretched or are there black bars on the side

Assuming you don't mean aspect ratio then yeah the main issue is people forget they likely played these consoles on a 14" CRT in their bedroom. Another reason to go the emulation route IMO as you can use filters, although I kinda like the pixelated look myself. It can seem a bit harsh at first but you get used to it, and my eyes feel a bit weird if I've been looking at a blurred image for a while.

You can choose between Pillar Boxed (4: 3) or Stretched (Wide 16:9).

When running in standard 4:3 you can choose a background, either plain black, 3D squares, or Sonic & Cartoon Speakers.

When running stretch, you are adding pixels horizontally, the impact of which when scrolling etc is largely dependent on the original resolution of the game, and potentially whether you choose to then use your TVs built in 4:3 filter to re-scale back.
I reckon this will go even lower, I really want one but I think i'm gonna wait.

Yep , a la PlayStation classic £30 in January ! Didn’t help that they’ve already made a hundred mega drive minis just not by sega ! And to be fair will you really play this for more than 4 minutes ( including setup time ) sometimes I think it’s better to have memories than try and relive them it spoils the magic maybe if they updated the graphics it would be worth it

Sonic is the only game on the console?

So it is not £50 to play sonic. Cheers.
Some perspective on the price. These games used to cost £50.28 EACH (if not more).

Not yet, but it's close.
Not worth the money ! A Playstation Classic and a 128GB flash drive is all you need !

Lowest was £16 iirc on a prime deal, but yeah £25 was the lowest widely available price. I pulled the trigger at £40ish not expecting them to go any lower although after using some Nectar points it was £25 anyway.

Great piece of kit for the money, as much as I want a megadrive mini there isn't any advantage over the PS classic.
