Get a second-hand PSP and read up about getting emulators on it. Took me 30 mins using online tutorials.

Mine has every Master System, Mega Drive, Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance game on it I’ve ever owned. And because I still have all the originals up in the loft no legal issues.

Big problems are terrible sound emulation and an inaccurate D-pad
On the PSP front, there are loads of step-by-step guides and videos - if you have a suitable device and follow these to the letter, you probably don't need much in the way of tech knowhow.

Mine was extremely straightforward - literally a 30-min job. From reading around certain other combinations of model and firmware might be a bit convoluted.

Don't buy, poor quality port of these games, controls are useless, it'll be in the back of a drawer after one day.

Decent price for a little handheld Christmas gift!
Not forgetting can be plugged into a tv as well.
Tempted by this. The games on the Ultimate one look good, and it has an SD slot to add more ROMS. Nice find 🔥

The one with 30 games is just £14.99 in Sainsburys...or at least it was last week.

I managed to pick one up during the double up
The £19.99 version doesn't include all Sonic games at all, wrong description on Argos.
Don't bother, these are poor poor poor, very small and low Res screen,it's cheap for a reason.

ATgames again... Should be in title imo so people don't get conned.. It's not a Sega console..

Overall it's very poor. The only reason I got this (or maybe it was a previous version) was so that I could load games like World Of Illusion and Quackshot into it. But after a few mins, I put it into a draw and have never since got it out again.

I have an old one of these. It's a sub-par experience. You really get what you pay for.

Shabby and disappointing.

+1 for this. The PSP is a MUCH better Emulator than this janky implementation. Savestates, multiple platforms, expandable storage, better screen and better performance.
You'd be better off with even an android phone running some emulators and a Bluetooth grip controller than this thing.

Hmm.. any links mate? I want a ton of handheld games for the little man and old skool are the best!
Question, does the PSP not have to be of a certain firmware?? Worried if I get one the firmware would be of the wrong version and then be a very boring brick

thx
Wow these are still for sale? I got one for Christmas 7 or 8 years ago and it was total junk. Inexplicably stopped turning on after the first go. The sound quality was pretty poor and the emulation laggy too.

o to be 10 again
Better off buying an old Game Gear!
Please don't buy from AtGames. More chance your kid will open a defective one of these on Xmas day than you think. I saw tons of these that had no sound or defective controls. AtGames are bloody cowboys.
Had an old one with the Micro Sd that let you install other games. Awful sound. Poor screen.
I received one of these before as a gift, really thoughtful gift but I agree with the other comments. Really poorly manufactured, terrible sound and screen.
I own the £20 version, do not buy it. Subpar selection of games, d pad isn’t great and sound is prettt bad
These die very easily. I'd avoid and go for the megadrive shaped console instead.

What is better. The PSP or Vita? What is best for this?
Isn't this £14.99 in sainsburys?
Whoops! Bought it before reading the comments! It'll be going back that's for sure!
I think this is on sale for 14.99 at eurocarparts

Psp is better, vita has to be on a certain firmware. The ultimate emulator I'd say is the psp go as it's more portable and decent amount of memory as well
For those interested in original hardware...

You can get everdrive cartridge that plays SD card on an actual megadrive. Megadrive with RGB scart has incredible picture go look YouTube footage.

No you can pretty much mod/hack any firmware I believe.
Atgames
My psp does all this
These are absolutely f-ing awful. Terrible emulation, only TWO buttons (should have ABC), and horrific sound quality from the emulation and the awful speakers.

Avoid!!!!

PSP is definitely the way, i tried many other hands like JXD 7800b & GPD X D but the PSP is difinitely the best. especially bacause of the proper d pad and buttons. other factors are brilliant screen, battery. Mine is psp2000 & has a 32gb class 10 micro SD which is hundred times better than sony's own memory cards.. even PS Vita ones.

PSP has it all done already & many emulators out there, more easier to carry and memory is cheaper
I do psp cfw for people all the time.
One of the best retro game consoles ever.
I would not even bother with a vita
The fact that there’s no Sega branding anywhere to be seen on the device should raise alarm bells over quality/user experience.
