Lovely watch. Ordered for an imminent milestone birthday for a loved one

cheaper than this on ebay so don't rush to order from the link, be careful of paying too much.

Great watches. Bullet proof. Will last a lifetime.

I think this has the 7S26 movement which is widely considered to be very robust and reliable - it's the same movement in my Seiko Orange Monster.

It also has Lumibrite markings/hands - great luminescence albeit only a small amount. Plus hardlex crystal is very sturdy. I quite like the look of this. Heated.

top quality watches.....heat added

Tempted, my other Seiko 5 is still going strong but I beat it up to an unacceptable level!

An auto watch from a known brand for £60 heat added

Good deal, lets hope this is more reliable than my Tag auto which has stopped working twice.

Must resist!

Only real drawback is lack of proper WR. But top automatic movement, I have it in a few divers that cost 3 times this. Heat

50m Water Resistant dear boy, I'd consider that proper (5 atmospheres)

My dad has one and wears it all the time, even works on the car with it on and he has had it for 3 years or so, no trouble with it. I am cautious of automatics and trust a cheap quartz the most, but if you want a good automatic then you cant go wrong with these. There are fakes about though, but some of the fakes still might be good.

Please read the following link for a standard guide to watch water resistance - they don't stick watches underwater to check, rather they do a brief air pressure check - this bears little resemblance to actual water resistance.

I stand corrected, thanks for the link

So this watch is:

5 BAR, 5 ATM, 50m, 165ft

Suitable for everyday use and swimming but NOT poolside diving, snorkelling or water sports.

It'll do me for the occasional washing up (very occasional ;)) plus I'm getting older I tend to take my watch off now when I infrequently go swimming.

Does the day date know when there are 30 or 31 days in a month or does this have to be changed manually?

Evidently you were unaware, a lot of people are tbh. Basically an auto at 5atm, don't get it wet and definitely don't get in the shower with it.

Manually.

If you want that look for a perpetual calendar model, or a radio linked digital.

Water resistance does not cover for changes in temperature so getting in a hot shower or sticking your hands in a hot sink can cause expansion and create gaps for water to get in.
The rubber seals are not designed to withstand chemical attack either so some detergents and cleaners may further degrade the seals.
50m / 5 atm is good for rain and slash resistance and thats about it.

This is a lovely watch though, I might get one myself (if the wife lets me)

Thanks OP. Ordered. :-) X)

Nice watch, heat added

I've had one of these with the 5 movement for over 30 years and use it when doing rough jobs - decorating, car repairs, etc and it has never let me down - keeps very good time and 100% reliable - just ordered one of these - Heat added.

That'll be well handy on a big night out

What are the chances this will be genuine?

I very much doubt this will be a fake. It will just be a reseller. Nowt wrong with that.

Do you think it will come with the full international warranty?

If you've got the resources to make fake automatic watches, you're not going to make Seiko 5's.

I can't see why it wouldn't, Watch Warehouse is a genuine retailer.

Looks to be £65 on their website and get 10% off with first purchase? Not sure on delivery mind.

I may well be wrong, but I believe that resellers don't offer international warranties, but that's the reason why they cost a lot less and it is often only resellers who can offer models that aren't current. I wouldn't have any problem buying from a reseller, I have done several times.

Delivery is free so it's actually cheaper to buy it from their website.

nublets2k

According to their site, they're an authorised retailer.

You're right, I hadn't even looked at the site. That makes this even more of a deal. My point still stands about non-authorised vendors, albeit that doesn't apply in this case. Ta.

Can't believe I just bought one for my dad. HUKD strikes again.
