Can't really go wrong with a Japanese made Seiko. Would make an ideal first automatic watch or a daily 'beater'.

Ordered this for my dad couple months ago. Yes,they are made in Japan, but inaccurate, as many of automatic watches. Dads watch is late by 14 seconds a day...
Not into watches, however the mrs would like one for work... any suggestions on there which is good?

I've never heard of this website either, will you get tax added to this?

I would just get a Quartz watch, automatic (mechanical) watches are less accurate than quartz (battery powered) ones. Automatic watches are more about the appreciation of the craftsmanship. They can be used daily, but they will lose or gain a small amount of time a day. Creation watches are not based in the UK, I think they mark their items as gifts to avoid you paying tax. Have look at other threads, I think the vast majority of people have received their items tax free.
Worth checking on Amazon if you're after a Seiko 5, they usually have some around the £50-60 range.

That is not too bad for a Japanese automatic watch (officially it should be between -20 to +40 seconds a day). But from what I understand most 7s26 watches are usually +/- 5 seconds a day, so it might be worth getting it regulated by a watchmaker. I don't how much that costs though. I've been pretty lucky with mine it initially was +8 seconds a day, but I dropped it accidentally and now it's running at +3 seconds a day.

Technically there shouldn't be any difference between the Malaysian made ones on Amazon and these Japanese made ones, but many people have said there is a significant difference. I own both, imo Japanese ones just have better polishing and finish. No difference in accuracy though.

Edit- And forgot to mention significantly better resale value of Ebay.

Cheaper at warehouses. Got a couple for £100 in Manchester with the Seiko boxes and guarantee.

You can get a radio controlled watch for £50 that is essentially as accurate as a cesium clock and much more accurate than an automatic watch costing thousands of pounds, you generally don't buy mechanical watches because of there accuracy (although you obviously don't want it to be wildly inaccurate but a few seconds a day is usually acceptable)
