My phone shows the time so a bit redundant really.

Yes, got rid of my Television, computer, tablet and alarm clock, all redundant. After installing a couple of flight sim apps I have decided to not bother flying any more. Like you say with a smart phone these things are no longer needed.

That's like saying you don't need a car as you've got legs, or a dishwasher because you have a sink. Why do people take the time to post meaningless rubbish?

Post about the deal, if not, don't bother...
Creation Watches are based in Singapore, and from all blogs I have read, they say that the watches don't come in a box but rather are sent in a pouch to save on postage. If you require a box in costs an extra $15-$20 and even then it's not a genuine box made for that specific watch.
I have also read that Creation may not offer a full manufacturers warranty, so for example all Citizen watches sold through jewelers here in the UK come with a 5 year Citizen warranty, Creation might offer a Creation Watch 2 year warranty. This happens a lot when you buy items on the Grey Market, i.e. items are not distributed to market through a manufacturers regular distribution channels. There are several watch websites which I follow in the USA and operate through the Grey Market, one of which is Long Island Watches. There is a video link to Long Island which explains what the Grey Market really is.
Personally I would only purchase a watch or any item on the Grey Market if it came with a full manufacturers warranty and intended packaging.

I'm not a fan of the look of the first watch, but it's a cracking price for a 4R36 movement watch which features hand winding and hacking.
The nicest variant (which Marc from Long Island Watch discusses, above), is the SRPC53 OOS at Creation, though
38574320-W2HLI.jpgThere's an Open Heart Orient too, which is a good price, but I'm not keen on (amongst other watches I've not listed)

I love LouLou's watches threads!!
That watch is fit.

Creation watches have been on HUKD threads for years, very reliable, have bought several myself.

It is a bit odd how Creation charge extra for the box, but I guess it cuts there cost and helps them offer their very competitive prices.

By the very definition of Grey Market you won't get a manufacturer warranty. Incidentally the majority of watch sellers are grey market, nothing wrong with it. Particularly for watches of relatively low value.

There's new Seiko 5s out now (new logo), though Seiko 5 Sports are a wee bit higher calibre as they don't have the ubiquitous 7S26.

are these the new skx's? they really should just phase out the '5' line merchandising.. people just associate it with economy seiko's and they are great watches in their own right.

Yes, they use to be great, bought many watches in the past, but now pretty much guaranteed to get import charges whichever delivery service used so not really a bargain anymore.

I'm pretty sure it's the new 5 logo*, but if I read differently, I'll edit this post. The Hodinkee website says,
"The new Seiko 5 line-up is broken down into 5 categories: Sports, Suits, Specialist, Street, and Sense. Each category represents a different thematic approach to the Singular Seiko 5 model. The Sports line will be quite familiar to longtime fans of the brand. Each model can be traced back to another popular watch from Seiko’s history. It’s a neat game to play
.."

I got hit with VAT a few days ago (nothing to do with Creation, though) - around £22 and the Royal Mail Handling Charge - £8 (you don't pay Customs charges under £135) for a £125 watch a few days ago. The Codek Spiral - though it was sent by USPS. Posted a pretty picture here with the WatchGecko Rastrick strap.

I was lucky with Creation Watches' Free Registered Mail back in March, other HUKDers haven't been. That little SNK371 Seiko 5 is one of my favourite ever watches - I thought I'd hate that I can't hack it (you can back-hack) and that it doesn't wind, but that little fella keeps on going.

*Yes, it is the new logo for all 5 categories, see the Seiko 5 Lineup here
Official Seiko 5 Sports page (launched 9th August) here

Maybe they're ALL being called Seiko 5 Sports now? The articles I'm reading don't make it that clear.

I have the Seiko Monster which I love for its big orangy face. Not sure if the insides are any different to this. Alas keeps rubbish time.

Exactly this. I chose free airmail delivery option recently being a slower service and thinking it might slip through, but no; got delivered by Royal Mail with additional vat charge plus £8 handling charge. Watch was decent but the additional fees wiped out the benefit of buying from them, and like someone else has said, no original box either (but I knew that when I ordered).

If it's this SRP315K2, it's also the 4R36 movement. There's a few new Seiko Monsters about (the Frosted "Prospex Ice Monster SBDC073" is my favourite)

From reading around, I think they're a much? higher price than the older Monsters, though

Yeah my 7S26 Seiko (SNK371) is a bit....well, it drifts after a few days and I find myself back in ye olde days setting it every morning when I wake up!

But those movements are easy to adjust - it's just my old eyes aren't great at close up vision (really need one of those headset magnifier thingies). I got my first varifocals recently and I end up wearing them on my forehead when reading close-up, so that was a waste of time!
