Introducing a ‘Flieger’ style into the Seiko 5 Sports collection – a military style originally created for pilots and navigators, the layout of Flieger watches had to be clear and easy to read quickly, as well as being robust and reliable.

This Flieger style watch features a “bomber jacket” style nylon strap – in military colours with an orange leather lining, resembling a retro bomber jacket.

Seiko’s Seiko 5 Sports watches are known for over fifty years of reliability, durability, performance and value.
‘’5’’ represents the original five key features of every Seiko 5 still present today: Automatic movement, Day-date display, Water Resistance, Recessed crown and Durable case and bracelet.

The five core features of the Seiko 5 Sport:

  • The mechanism within the watch is 4R36 automatic movement which is built in house and the calibre is comprised of 24 Jewels and a 41-hour power reserve.
  • Each Seiko 5 Sport displays a day and date window at the 3 o'clock position on the dial.
  • The Seiko 5 Sports collection are known for significant water resistance up to 100 metres.
  • The collection also comes with added durability of the case and strap of each model.
  • Inspired by pilot watches, this Flieger watch has a large green dial.
  • The 39.4 mm case is made of stainless steel. The green fabric straphas an orange leather lining.
  • The watch has large luminescent hands.
  • Unlike other 5 Sport watches, the minutes and hour-markers are slim Arabic numerals.
  • Covering the dial is a Hardlex crystal.

This is a great automatic watch, mines is rated to +/-35 seconds per day and its less that 10. The only complaint I have is that there's no anti-reflective coating on either side of the domed glass

Got the blue one and it's great

I wonder how much bonus they paid to the seiko marketing guy who came up with the strategy of just doubling the price of everything. Genius move.
Yes these were never more than £100 for years

    Is this made in Japan?
Taken from the product spec page Individual Model Specifications: SRPH29K1
I understand the K1 at the end to represent Korea as the place of manufacture. Happy to be corrected here though.

I got one of these new for £45 a while back
I'm assuming you mean this one - this is the newer Seiko 5 line, different movements, though quite similar at a glance.48209630-NfLv8.jpg

Made in japan just means its a japanese domestic market watch.
The K is for the world market
Bothe the K and J are made in the same factorys
    So it is Japaneese then

Looks nice. The lume shot destroys it for me though

I know it's not a sports watch, but for this money I'd rather an Orient Bambino, for similar style/size. Amazon doing them for £130-150
    £115 Amazon EU today...

Is there much of a saving in going “used”, mainly eBay ( or other sources if available) ? Thanks in advance.

Loving the four and a half second exposure to over-emphasise the glow on the lume shot...

Nice watch but not distinct enough from the SNK807 I imported from Creation Watches for about half this price all in, although granted it has a vastly superior strap which never concerned me as I was importing the 807 expressly to fit on a pair of custom leather straps with 18mm lugs...
I tend to use Creation Watches, they are cheap and have been very reliable.
