Seems a reasonable price for a kinetic. I believe strap adjustment will be carried out free at an Argos store.

No it isn't. Kinetic uses a dynamo to charge a capacitor/battery which then powers a quartz movement. Automatic uses a fully clockwork movement which winds a spring.

Ive had my seiko kinetic for 15 years still going strong.

I see your 15 years and raise you 17 years. I did have to get the capacitor changed once though, apparently the original was poor quality. It only cost a few pounds.

I changed the battery and capacitor in mine... i did it myself - videos are online on how to do it.. parts are cheap.

want... don't need... must resist...

I have managed to talk myself out of it. But a seiko kinetic for this price is incredible.

I am a bit of a watch freak. I have a lot of watches including some Swiss expensive stuff. Kinetic is a new word for automatic. The most expensive watches are frequently this type of device.
Great value and a superb buy if anybody wants a nice watch. Heat added.

I've had the same watch for 30 Years, it's had 5 new straps, 4 new movements, 6 batteries and a new chassis

You have made it to the "cool story bro!" group. On calling it on a 11 word story you have set a record.

I have the solar Titanium version, great watch, more compact that many mens watches, and stylish too. Good price, Heat added.

I think I've had mine about the same time and it's still working.too!
I reckon it's due to my constant back and forth wrist movements.

Mm, I probably shouldn't have worded it like that! :-)

Out of stock now

Considering Seiko only invented the Kinetic watch 29 years ago I'll take your post with a pinch of heroin. But I do have an over 20 year old Seiko kinetic that is still going strong with no faults and it is my favourite watch of all time, and that is over my Rolex and Breitling watches.

I got a Seiko Kinetic Arctura (still going strong)
Think I paid £400 back then!

How accurate is this watch?

I bought a Casio WVA-M640D-2AER (nifty name eh!). It is solar powered, battery free and a waveceptor.

The time is always right, to the second, always. Adjusts automatically between GMT/BST. It also has the day and date, stopwatch, blah blah.

It cost me £70 from amazon.fr, and currently on amazon.co.uk for exactly £90.

It has a specially designed, easy to adjust strap. That's the last thing you'll ever need to do. I am rather obsessed with knowing exactly the right time so it suits me very well!

i bought the last one also consider the citizen eco drive watches very good indeed plus their stainless steel bracelets are better

If they wasted three watches adjusting the strap, I wouldn't credit them with the ability to do that tbh. I mean, I'm a cack-handed oaf, but to break a 2 watches whilst adjusting a strap is a whole new level of incompetence. Its like Jeremy clarkson works for them.

If you are a watch freak get reading up. Kinetic isn't the new word for automatic, automatic watches store the energy in a spring. Kinetic stores electrical energy in a capacitor.

They invented it over 31 years ago, it was revealed in 1986 under it's original name AGM, which then became AGS and ultimately Kinetic.

That was when it was first unveiled to the world it was not sold until 1988, so how did you get one before it was available? there is no credence in your post, you are just trying to be clever. In fact you probably never owned one, unlike some of us.

Pretty sure Bermudaviper didn't claim to own one. I think you might have mixed up your posters there. I imagine he was simply stating what was on the Seiko website:

"It was at the 1986 Basel Fair that Seiko unveiled its first Kinetic prototype. Introduced under the trial name of 'AGM"

From this link.

Yes correct, it was my natural instinct to think it was continuation posts sorry Bermudaviper and I see flowerdrew has amended his statement, but the rest of my statement was true released in 1988.

Faulty watch received

I have followed the instructions to chardch the watch by swinging it for for several minutes ( at least 30 minutes) and also worn the watch on my wrist for two days straight and yet the second hand continues to move a two second intervals and the charge reserve indicator shows about 1 day battery reserve. I will see if it improve over the weekend, although I doubt it. Gonna have to send it back unfortunately

I hope others had better luck with theirs...
