This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

This may get some negative heat as it's considerably more than the original and much sought after alpinist. However, this looks a good deal if you are after one of the newer release Seiko Alpinists.

I think the black dial is my pick of the bunch, but I'm not sure about having an Alpinists on a bracelet. The power reserve is great, but the Cyclops seems to divide opinion.

FEB10 takes £65 off the price.

.... I hope this deal helps somene.

I fell out of love with the green with my alpinist so moved it on, it went for just over £500 if my memory serves me,so on that basis heat.

I always take a look at the green face Alpinists on eBay but have never pulled the trigger on one.
The competition against this on some occasions is the Hamilton khaki king Automatic which I bought last week for £258, which I absolutely love.
Wonder if Seiko will do a reissue or tribute to this one 39870613-RQ8JP.jpgI have the SARB017, got it on a steel/gold-tone oyster bracelet now, as Seiko's stock leather strap is pants. Paid nearly half this price!

I know some people like a Cyclops but I don't like it, that's personal preference, though.

Edit: The bracelet I ended up buying/using was a £10 Michel Herbelin, not knowing if I could get it to fit. Here's a picture of it here

Second hand at that price ? Good condition?
I also like that watch but I feel I might go for the Christopher wards C65 Sandhurst . It looks excellent on the YouTube review I recently watched .

Are these cold votes based on there being a better price somewhere else or is it due to its perceived value?

£545 actually, mint condition, and I had an aftermarket watch gecko oyster strap which was £58. These were always around £300, I paid £280 for mine. So the price hike does seem excessive.

Seiko saphhire deals tend to get voted down by the hardlex lobby. Here's another example:

I'd wait until the CW sale. I previously bought a makira pro500 at half price after nearly buying it full price, would have been grief stricken.
I remember someone on Watchuseek said (when people were snapping up the SARB017) - this isn't *really* discontinued, it'll reappear as a Presage line with a lesser movement and vastly inflated price. That's not quite what happened, but the price hike did.

Not voted either way, though.

Edit: There's a thread on Watchuseek about the 2020 Alpinist now (I haven't read it, others probably have) here

That's a great looking watch
This is the cheapest pretty much worldwide for this particular watch. Especially if you factor in duties and VAT if bought from abroad.

I don’t think it’s just that, look at the first comment in my deal and the mentality is clear. When a watch becomes seen as ‘expensive’, unless it is one of the luxury brand manufacturers, some people who would ‘never spend that much on a watch’ see fit to vote cold.

At the same time as posting that deal, I posted one for a Seiko Presage for around the £200 mark. The Astron deal received twice the traffic, and received significantly more cold votes. There was no cheaper deal available for that model at the time and the price presented a significant discount over standard Astron pricing.

Thanks mate. It is buddy 👌🏻 it’s from AliExpress. Zepthydum strap 😁 think it was just under £11!
I voted cold, as the watch hasn't improved, but the price hike has been massive. I've never seen the appeal of this particular model, despite being a huge Seiko fan. Nevertheless, assume you love the design, how does that rationalise the price hike?

Also this, 'lowest price in the world' business is a dumb as rocks mentality! I'm sure you could find the lowest price on 1000s of items, that aren't good value in the least...lowest price alone, isn't a metric worth having, and doesn't indicate value. I could offer a sack of turds, provided I offer it for less than the next lowest sack, will you give heat?

I also bought the khaki king auto last week for £258. Really like it but my c65 trident is better on the wrist so I'd pick the CW out of those 2 but I would wait for another sale!

If you do get one, I must warn you- it was a bit of a ******* to fit! You’ll need curved bars ideally (they forgot to include them with mine) didn’t want to wait so I just used normal bars and bent them ever so slightly. I’d recommend getting a decent bar removal tool. I use a Bergeon.

yeah going to send them a message about that thanks for the link
For £650 there is a lot of choice of Swiss brands out there with automatic movements. I'm a fan of Seiko but not at this price. In addition, Seiko in the UK is on average 50%-100% more expensive than in Far East.

Here's mine Red Alpinist from the 90's which this 2020 release is based upon. The red Alpinist is a much better watch that the current 2020 release due to use of a 4S15 28,800hz movement. In its day, it was a super value proposition.
