Paid £125 for my 1st gen Monster and £150 for the 2nd gen Monster. 3rd gen Monster jumped up a lot in price, but at least it had the 6r movement.
Now this 4th gen Monster is priced high like the 3rd gen, but now they only put the 4r movement in it.

As much as i like their auto's, Seiko are getting too greedy now.

I think of the two the Samurai wins on looks

Gratuitous Post Alert:

Especially with a Mesh strap, (dear God it took me so long to get around to putting one on my SRPB49K1 I just HAD to tell somebody)

Good price and I see they also have the Samurai SRPB49K1 reduced. Heat.

Just returned a Seiko with this movement back to amazon, in the short time I owned it, it was gaining around 10 seconds in a 7 hour period. Such great watches but let down by poorly regulated movements, its the luck of the draw you may get one that runs well but you may not, a watch needs to be relatively accurate for most.

I dont have a downer on the 4r movement, all my Seiko auto's have it. It was great bang for buck against the old 7s movement.
But for £300 +, i expect better.
Use the code vday to get it for £301.84

Damn .... I am such a fool.
I really don't like Seiko bracelets i find them too thin especially on such big watches.

I like this monster it needs a rubber strap though if anyone has a recommendation?

God Imagine it had been losing 10 seconds and you were late for work one morning and got the bullet

That was a close shave eh lol

If I recall rightly the was two versions of 2nd gen monsters one with the 4r movement and one substantially more expensive with a 6r movement.

Update:
Found 2ng gen monster with 6r15 movement (£400 from creation watches now sold out): creationwatches.com/pro…tml
Edited by: "7iain7" 17th Nov 2019
Was not that long ago you could buy a monster for £150 from Creation and virtually guaranteed not to pay taxes because they used to send them marked as 'measuring instrument' value $15 (or there abouts)

At this price though for the specs they are simply not worth it.

Actually I have just got in the post a double dome sapphire crystal for my Seiko pepsi BFK, waiting on the vice to come so I can fit.
Also looking into replacing the bezel insert to a high quality option. I need to replace the bezel spring too as it has gone from 120 clicks to 60, one of the leaf springs have snapped. ( 3 years of use )

Still keeps perfect time, loses spprox 20 seconds every 6 months when I need to adjust for daylight saving. So overall thumbs up.

That is the 3rd gen you linked to in Creation. The 6r only came in the 3rd gen.
2nd gen had the 4r movement.

The 2nd gen is easy to spot as it was the only Monster that used the teeth shaped indices..... and it only ever came with 4r movement.

wait a minute wait a minute or 10 seconds to be precise....just think what you could do within that 10 seconds hmmm?
I've went a bit daft with Blue dial watches, so I'll just admire this one from afar.....
sapphire glass is a good point on these watches, I've seen a few Seiko's at this price point & more with Hardlex

There's an ongoing (getting quite big) thread about Seiko, whether they still offer value for money, and alternatives here (though I'm sure the watch buffs have read this already).

Interesting read !

Seiko has a good name & you get what you pay for, I have seen they start at silly prices but if you wait you can get a bargain. I own four Seiko's & I've never paid full RRP. I would say I've paid half in sales or end of life !

Take my Sportura GPS, RRP £899... I paid £350 from Ernest Jones.
The PADI divers RRP £599.... I paid £200 with vouchers again from Ernest Jones.

It's about waiting your time & buying when there a bargain in your eyes.

Typically on the likes of this, the turtles and the Samurais you will have a strap 4mm thick. This on a watch that’s case is 13.0mm to 13.5mm is as thick as aesthetics would allow.

I just paid 275 for a used (near mint) 2nd Gen. Couldn't find them in that condition any cheaper. For £150 that's an absolute bargain for a truly stunning watch 👌
