Assuming that you mean 'It's only a Seiko, why would you pay £1,000 for a watch' then I can only say that if you don't know much about watches it would be best to do some research before commenting, thank you.
Hang about! Is it a watch or a cake? One of those realistic looking cakes?
One is literal and t'other is figurative; I'll leave it up to you to make the choice 😁
You can't do that. Or if I break my teeth I can sue.
(HUKD kinda messed up the 'joke timing' there were supposed to be two Hang About! posts. Ah well).

I read it and laughed, and thought 'they're all out tonight!' (edit: me being one of them). I think they are having a joke.' Only a psycho would'....could be wrong. Let's see.
That's exactly what I thought when I read it
Not liking the look of it though.
Prefer something slimmer and more refined such as my Nomos.
Fantastic watch have some heat.
Yes, it's an automatic chronograph using a vertical clutch column wheel which is the top end of such movements. The main advantage of this is a smooth feel to the chrono push buttons and, possibly, depending on the user, more accurate time measurement as a result.
This type of movement requires much more precision in its manufacture than a cam and lever arrangement and this is very costly.
It is very rare to see a watch like this for a price this low.
Anything Seiko and half the price is going to have a quartz movement which is very cheap to make.
Of course, the quartz will be more accurate over time but the automatic is more than just a timekeeper; it is is a thoroughbred.
Rather interestingly ebay has one for sale, 2nd hand, with a bid at 999.
So this feels like a very good price.
So its just a posh watch then? That doesn't keep track of the time very well? /s
But obviously a discounted posh watch, that looks nice with smooth push buttons.
So lets say we do want value for money, (idk the point at which it would need to be a lot more money to be better) but at the same time want a simpler face, 40mm, like my dads kinetic.
Any ideas what to go for? And not £1k even if that is half price lol. Then we can watch out for it when it goes on sale. Problem is most watch faces are too busy or too big for me.
Do you want a chronograph or a standard watch? Do you prefer ultimate accuracy or workmanship? What sort of budget?
Guys, Chronographs are never going to be thin, this is the thinnest you'd find an 8R48 in, it is a chunky movement with a vertical clutch..
Something that keep track of time well, so accuracy over workmanship. But a simple blue face dial of some sort would be neat. Budget, £200? but happy to wait and see what turns up on a good sale over the next year. no rush
Something like this?

yeah, the face watch looks a bit sparkly. but something like that. thanks
but seems to be a 10% code around too which is neat. Kinetic like my dads would be cool too. although after 10 years he has hit the issue that a watch repair cost almost the same as the watch.
