Simpkins Jewellers website is SO ANNOYING. I thought there was likely a few in stock, but it turns out you have to apply items to the cart and refresh them again and again to find out how much is left.

Seems there's only one, unless their website is buggy. And I searched for all those images as well. Gah!

Maybe I'm looking on the wrong pages, but different watches come up on the Seiko website when I type in "Zen Garden" here and here

The Seiko link is in the Deal post - where I got the specifications screenshot - but it doesn't mention Zen Garden anywhere.

firstclasswatches even call this a Cocktail Time.

As it's only "splash proof", I would agree that it is just suitable for cocktails, not daily wear. I'm out!

You're either making a funny or not getting what I mean about Seiko names - though forumites sometimes give watches affectionate names that aren't "official".

Anyway, some sites say this is 50M WR (Gnomon Watches), Jura Watches/CW Sellors says 30M WR, so it's a bit confusing. 30M WR is usually shorthand for "splash resistant" (as Seiko themselves state), so I'd assume it's probably that.

Think the presage line are all 50m but I could be wrong.

This is a good deal. I’m not personally a fan of the dial but many people love it.

Thought maybe the etching on the case back would give me some clues but it only says "Water Resistant"39877644-sPbdf.jpg
The face looks a little too busy to be called "Zen Garden"

Just going by Google searches - there's loads of websites using this description. If it's incorrect I'll remove it.

Hmm yes you’re right that would suggest 30m. I looked at a 50m presage for comparison and per the below pic it does specify 5 bar. So the fact this one doesn’t suggests 30m.

Interestingly the case looks the same. The difference seems to be the crystal. Are Seiko giving higher WR rating for Hardlex?! Interesting sales technique!

Seiko giveth and taketh away
This is a nice one

I don't know why they put a power reserve complication on a dress watch ..
Excellent deal and deserves more heat, but cold voting from baldlex lobby dragging it down.
Can't work out if Simpkins Jewellers' website only lets you order one, or if there's one left. Still seems to be available anyway.

Think the green dial is a bit Marmite for most people
Sort-of Seiko related! I was going to do a Deal on the Invicta 8932OB Quartz Pro Diver from Amazon US (comes to around £48.69 all-in), but it's actually been at the £40 mark at its cheapest, so I didn't bother.

Whilst searching I noticed this one, re the Seiko Samurai-alikes Invicta had earmarked for release amazon.com/Inv…GQ5
39878349.jpgThese are the "Seiko Samurai"-alike Automatics:39878349-RqEv0.jpg39878349-spRZf.jpgAlso, these "Seiko tributes" are New Releases...
There was a Watchuseek thread about this one39878349-Rb8mW.jpg39878349-NVJo5.jpg

Looks nice on pic but in real crap
WOW! £359 for a Seiko? Worlds gone mad!

39886344-UeVjN.jpgI got this orient moon standard black for around the same price. Orient Moon's are significantly harder to get hold off but provide better value imo due to finish and things like anti-reflective coating, 100m water resistance etc

Whats wrong with sapphire glass?
plus 45-35 secs a day and only a 4R57a movement at that price? no thanks

Nothing whatsoever, Sapphire is possibly as good a Crystal as you can get, so it’s just a bit of a standing joke on the basis that some members will accept nothing but Sapphire. Others however have no issue with the likes of Hardlex (Seiko).
Thanks for posting, we have added this to the Highlights pages

I wouldn’t bother, it’s been out of stock for quite a while now.

I've been wearing a seiko watch with sapphire glass for 13 years....sapphire glass is amazing...I wouldn't buy a watch without sapphire glass now...sapphire is much better and more expensive than hardlex

Still polite and nice to thank though (and it wasn't when added to HLs and yep, that aint the greatest website is it - goes to bag, goes to checkout, and then it has a pink fit)

I was replying to Baldricky, so I think we have crossed wires. Of course it's a compliment if it makes it to Highlights, timing isn't on my side with this one.

Hence I said it was a standing joke. Personally I have no issue with either, both have their plus/minus points and I have watches with both in my collection. More importantly, I would NEVER wish to limit my watch choices by only considering a watch with a Sapphire Crystal.

I struggle to consider watches without sapphire now. I wish I didn't

Much prefer this Orient one.

Think this Seiko looks really cheap, can't quite believe someone would pay £359 for this.

Ooh bit of brand snobbery huh? Seiko have really been knocking it out the park lately with some beautiful watches.
