£310 for a 4R35 movement, stamped clasp and mineral crystal is terrible value.

Can't provide a link because the sale finished. But see my posts above for proof of the watch & price paid.

It's definitely you tube driving it. Hawking sh**tters.

There is definitely some truth in this. These days I don’t think unreasonable to expect at least a piece of sapphire or milled clasp, at least one of the two, around the £300 price point. To not have either is not ideal But I suppose that’s the Seiko premium, and to a degree I sort of understand. It is a great brand and that should rightly carry a premium. But still when spending over £300 I would maybe start looking elsewhere for a slightly higher spec. But I’m a watch geek I know exactly where to hunt down value. For the average buyer this is still a stonking watch for the money.

All being said this is still a really beautiful watch. When you consider some of the fashion crap that is sold in stores for far higher prices, buying a lovely mechanical watch like this for £300 is actually still very good buying. Just because you can maybe do slightly better vale wise, that still doesn’t mean this is not a good purchase. It’s actually a great purchase for a watch that will look impressive and give excellent service for many years

The picture of the 3 watches that you referenced are a newer version of the SOT .
You paid £199 for the Solar SOT which is the one on your invoice .
They sent you the automatic that was probably selling for £350 400 at the time ..
Anyone know of any deals on the Monster please?

Yeah they sent out the wrong watch! Technically this watch has never been advertised at £199 other than a lucky few who ended up with one by mistake!!
Lovely looking watch, but I can't see £300 + of watch there myself, just seems expensive for what it is
Marley_mac04/10/2019 23:55

The latter..

Then the post was indeed random as previously stated.

To be honest, I doubt the auto Great White Seiko Samurai was on offer at £199 based on price and based on not being posted on here. After all, at the time the Solar was posted at £199 members were looking for the Auto Samurai.

However that said, £199 for the SSC741P1 Solar Great White Chrono was a good deal also. This being the watch that you bought but did not receive.

4r35 movement and mineral crystal no thanks, would rather buy a steinhart better value for money albeit a little more expensive, seiko just copying the james cameron colour scheme, my opinion..

Each to their own (which is the joy of watches) but you mention “copying” a colour scheme in the same breath as you mention Steinhart who as a new kid on the block appear to have gone flat out to copy the submariner with their Ocean One GMT?

"Like you said each to there own" but I'd rather by a good quality homage ie steinhart with better movement and sapphire crystal than the above seiko.

Much nicer than the newer model replacing it.

But why do you keep posting the same picture on watch deals on here.

Problem I have is few months ago I bought the orange samurai from Amazon US for £212 so as nice as the blue samurai is £300 seems too much now.

Really nice watch and for its size it wears very well.

Worst part is the bracelet, feels cheap and clattery but the watch is excellent. Not the best timekeeping though my SKX and Seiko 5s hold time much better.

It’s a very valid point as the Samurai range is essentially the same watch with different finishing, albeit standard, special and limited editions. Personally I have paid from £206 for the Standard edition Orange (Amazon US) to £396 for the Limited Edition Dawn Grey.

If I only had the Orange and had paid circa £210, my position would be that I got a billy bargain on the Orange and could likewise get a great deal on the STO. Let’s not forget the Orange was pretty much AWOL in the UK retailers, long in the US and easily fetches circa £300 New on fleabay.

Oh dear isn’t it past your bed time?
Given I spotted yours within seconds of seeing it, I think I’m alright.
Now stop embarrassing yourself and toddle off to bed little boy.
What does this do that my £10 Casio F-91W can't?

Thanks

Ah back to the name calling. Do Goldsmiths sell Rolex’s with misaligned pearls now? Must have been a factory second I take it?
