Hi Guys,
Maybe not as cheap as it has ever been, but a really nice deal for a stunning watch, IMO. The dial and especially the bezel insert(engraved as opposed to normal the aluminium insert) set this apart from the other turtles, for me anyway.

All in all a lovely package, at a lovely price

That's nice watch... must not buy another... must not lol

Nice looking watch! At 45mm it’s a big boy!

These wear way smaller then the size would suggest. I own 3 turtles. They wear so, so nice because the lug to lug length is short (nearly the same as the width). I have a 6.75” wrist and it wears brilliantly. Don’t let the size put you off
Must resist. Must resist. Must resist......
Someone convince me why buying this isn't a great idea.

I see what you mean, the case (made to look like a shell which is brilliant btw) is much bigger that the bezel. I presume it looks more like a 40/42mm watch then, which suits me well. I can imagine it sits nicely on a wrist because of it actually. Will try.

Yea. Wears like a 40/42mm for defo. The case does not stick out that much either. It’s just a really nice wearing watch
This is a watch that I would recommend any potential buyer first try on. It’s widely available across the high street including John Lewis, so finding should not be an issue.

I say that because I tried on at Xmas in JL and found the blue to be too, for want of a better phrase, “baby electric blue” or a blue that was too washed and pale. Hard to explain but it really did not work for me, especially when stacked up against all the other Turtle variants and their colour schemes. Anyway, JMHO.

Hardlex?? Troll
Nice watch, this watch is nicknamed "the great white", it's different to other turtles.
Look carefully at the dial near the 40 min Marker and you can see a shark fin coming out of the waves, the second hand is shark tail shaped.
This colour combo is unique to the great white, there is a chronograph version of this watch.

It’s different from the other turtle variants in the sense that they are all different to each other’s colour schemes and it’s one of the special editions that has small tweaks, such as the “fin” on the second hand counterbalance. For me the fin second hand is a bit too Invicta and not pretty. Plus it looks more like a thresher sharks tail fin than a Great Whites dorsal fin.

All of which is good because variety means there’s a watch out there for everybody.

FWIW variants of the STO GW are below.

Here it is on my 7 1/2 inch wrist.
As people have mentioned, it wears less due to the case design. Really comfortable.

The worst thing for my wallet was starting a watch collection
Cool as. Thank you simey83. I'm was looking for the spb103j1. Managed to find it for £530 (RRP 740) and was close to buying. Now I'm holding out for the limited edition model though SPB105J1 to reduce to a manageable price.

Can't knock the JDM's for having something a little bit different with the kanji days.
What model is that green Seiko please? That's lovely!
Great looking watch at a bargain price! Would beer to try it on to see the colour and check the fit (7 & 1/4” wrist)
Nah, cushion case overload (for me)

Cushion case overload. What's that mean? Just want to make sure I'm making the right purchase
That case shape/style is called "cushion".

Its the name for the style common in the 60s where the lugs were more integrated with the case, creating a barrel or cushion shape.

It just seems to have been taken a bit further here to match the name.

It's an aesthetic thing, as they are two similar Seikos, so its what you personally think looks best.

I've not checked the specs in detail, but am not really a fan of copy watches. But then a Submariner/Sea Dweller clone is hard to avoid for a driving style watch.

Green is out of season, as current watches lean towards blue, so its a bit of originality (unless next season is green).

Leaving it down to price; is the dearer one worth the difference?

Personally, I'd go for two cheaper but similar spec watches.
Regards earlier comments, I am not sure how anyone could call the Seiko SPB103J1 a “rip off” or “copy” of the Rolex Submariner 116610LV? Yes they are both green divers but thats about it.

Ten obvious differences.

1. Massively different shades of green.
2. Completely different case design.
3. Completely different hands.
4. Cyclops V no Cyclops.
5. Non framed date window V framed date window.
6. Crown at 3pm V crown at 4pm.
7. Crown guard V no crown guard.
8. Partial minute marked Bezel V fully minute marked Bezel.
9. No Chapter Ring V Chapter Ring
10. Hrs 3 and 6 markers rectangular batons V triangular and Hr 12 Marker triangle V split clipped triangle.

Yeah, a UK retailer and AD with a High Street presence for 40 years is never gonna offer 30% off the RRP.

I like some G-Shock designs & I am also a fan of the Apple Watch. My Apple Watch has meant my G-Shocks are no longer worn unfortunately.
