Seiko SKX range are an incredible range of watches. They are certified for 200m, automatic, day date complication, lots of good points. Just look on youtube for reviews and you will see that these are almost certainly the best and most iconic diver's watches under £500.

The SKX007 and SKX009 are identical apart from looks, the 007 has a black face and bezel, and the 009 has a navy face and red/navy bezel. The K1 variant is slightly cheaper and comes with a rubber strap, and the K2 variant comes with a metal band, I have gone for a skx009k2 because the metal band is very decent quality and I haven't heard very good things about the rubber strap to be honest. Fully ISO certified, but of course you don't need to be a diver to get this, in fact I would wager 95% of these watches sold have done nothing more than shower and swim.

Here are links to the different watches

Seiko Men's Blue Dial Diver's 200M Automatic Watch SKX007K1 - £131.91
Seiko Men's Blue Dial Diver's 200M Automatic Watch SKX007K2 - £140.64
Seiko Men's Blue Dial Diver's 200M Automatic Watch SKX009K1 - £127.06
Seiko Men's Blue Dial Diver's 200M Automatic Watch SKX009K2 - £143.55

Haven't been this cheap for years and years. Saw it at 160ish on amazon, thought it was a good deal, was about to commit, then saw this, then the 3% extra sale started.

Only negatives of the watch really are not handwinding and no seconds hacking, but this is an incredibly accurate, feature packed and iconic watch for very little money.

Or chuck it on a sub £5 ebay Nato strap watch and become james bond

Nice looking watches IMO
It's a good watch, but buying from China has a few risks attached. Potential customs bill of around £30 + handling charge (they put a fake value on the package, but if it's checked at the border you'll have issues).
If you manage to dodge the tax, then there's still the issue of difficult returns and awkward warranty. Have a good read of this and proceed with caution:

I didn't even notice they were a non-uk company however this is stated in their terms and conditions.

To simplify the process of buying internationally, eglobal central … To simplify the process of buying internationally, eglobal central choose to handle the process of custom clearance for customers. By purchasing products through eglobal central, you authorise eglobal central to make arrangements for clearance of customs on your behalf for the products in your order. As importing products from overseas can be a hassle for most of our customers, we organise this process for you. We then provide you with fast local shipping to deliver the goods to your door. As a result, prices shown on this website are the final total you have to pay to have the order delivered to your door, without any hidden charges and customs delay.17.2 After 3 month of receiving the goods and clearing customs, eGlobal Central will not be held responsible for any custom related fees.

So if I get any customs charges I will be getting a full refund and making them pay to have it shipped back, but it looks like now they have cleaned up their act a bit, at least that is what I read from it.

I would be cautious if buying something a lot more expensive or a lot less reliable, but with something like this workhorse watch, that has a proven track record of being reliable, I am happy to buy from hong kong.

Reviews suggest that their "handling" of the charges is just not declaring the value. They could definitely refund you in that case, I just think people should be aware of the situation before hitting the buy button.
Tax evasion for the rich is sneered upon, yet when it comes to those buying from China it's acceptable?
My dear friend says all rich should pay more for more benefits for those who have little like us pensioners .yes tax evasion is rotten
It is a great watch, I've had mine for about 7 or 8 years and still keeps good time and never been serviced
Great watch great price - if you do not get stung by import tax! - Bought mine from a UK seller on ebay last month, not much more money and no import tax to pay. Be prepared to ditch the rubber strap though its nasty get a nice nato or zulu strap - job done!.

I went for one with a metal strap, tried one on before and loved it. Will wear it with a metal strap for smart occasions and NATO straps all other times
If i was going to risk ordering from another country and may incur custom's tax I'd probably go for this amazon.co.uk/gp/…rch . it's a little bit extra but Orient watches are fantastic for the money!.

I went with rubber strap as I would only use it with a nato and wow what a combo - also put it on a zulu, love it!

I bought the Orient Ray Raven 2 from longislandwatches, had to pay import tax, lovely watch.
I wouldn't touch this company, i've heard a lot of bad stuff about them.
Better off using Creation, still far east (Singapore) But they have a good rep and its very rare for buyers here in the UK to get stung for import duties. I've used them 4 times now.

Personally i wouldn't buy these divers either. They have the old 7s26 movement that i dont much care for, i've had experience of it in previous watches i've owned. 4r36 is much better, big jump in spec & quality for small jump in price.
The jubilee bracelet these SKX come on is cheap, rattly, nasty piece of crap with fold over end links. The small links constantly stretch as well.

Best bang for the buck in Diver Seiko autos are the Turtles, 2nd gen Monster (if you can get em) and the Orient Makos & Rays that are also owned by Seiko.

Personally I like the seiko strap, similar in feel to a rolex one, it is light and comfortable, and to some the lightness feels like it being cheap, but I have tried loads of metal straps and this is one of the most comfortable, and that is more important to me than feeling cheap.

In an ideal world I would like 8bps+ movement with hand winding and seconds hacking, but my main priority is looks, and second most is functionality. For me this watch kills it on looks and has a dive rating/reliability record that makes this the best watch at this price point.

I don't like the looks of the monster, and the turtle is a nice watch, but too much of a jump in price for me.

I believe the watch mentioned in the post has increased from Was: £224.99 to £130.99

I went for this. Never received the item. ZERO replies to any of my emails untill I opened a PayPal case, then eglobalcentraluk replied 'oh close the PayPal case and we will refund you... Honest!'

Super dodgey retailer. Got money back from PayPal in the end.

Avoid!
