That's a nice one, and it looks familiar, pretty sure I posted a super-close-up of it a few months ago

Edit: Actually, I did comment on this SNKM87K1 in January, here - I'll take the liberty of pasting them!

How would it look with a brown leather strap?

Can you do that with watches (put a leather on a watch designed for a metal strap)

A) would it look wierd
B) would the weighting feel strange
C) is this available with leather.

This is the best looking seiko I've seen for this sort of price
Just saw this and if it wasn't black I would go for it. There is a review on the H Samuel site from someone who has always had quartz watches complaining about the accuracy. This is a mechanical watch and can be adjusted (regulated) if necessary. Personally I think the figures he quotes are not too bad. Even the position the watch lies in can affect the accuracy. It is a beautiful watch and a living thing !
Thanks go to Tacavas for posting and to LouiseLouise whose posts I have followed with interest.
Seiko 5. It'll last you a lifetime.
pretty sure this was only £75 before any discounts last month,
Looks much nicer in the arm than on its own

Would buy, but need something a little more different than the watches I've already got.

A,) no, but black leather matches the face
B) No. It will be fine.
C) just pick a strap up on ebay. At the same time get a strap removal tool.
Looks lovely, but the reviews aren't great.
Seen a Seiko similar to this (Seiko SNKA07K Men's Automatic Black Dial Stainless Steel watch) on this site (brandedwatchsale.co.uk/sei…tml
at £69.99. I cannot vouch for this site as at least one of the Seikos they are selling has a picture of a J (made in Japan) model rather than the K model which they are actually selling. I suppose this is the problem with using stock images as even bigger retailers are sometimes guilty of doing this.

It wouldn’t look weird, but I’d match the strap colour to the face colour for a more coordinated look. As for the weight, these aren’t heavy enough for it to be an issue. My favourite companies to use for aftermarket straps are Watch Gecko and Barton. You will need to get the correct lug width before ordering, although most Seiko watches are 22mm. Hope that’s of some help.
Anyone know the difference between this and the SNK361K1?

I like your wording there. Not everyone appreciates how much a watch is 'needed'.

Thanks, I feel more naked without a watch than mobile phone.
It's also amazing how many ppl ask the time even when they've their, considering they're the kind who'd say, sure why do you need a watch when you've got a mobile phone.

I wear different watching depending on my mood or what I'm doing, ie i work in comms, and if I know I'm going to a site, I wear a cheaper watch, just incase it gets damaged rather than my dearer ones etc.

Oh that looks really nice, ummm should I or should I not
Will have to think about it more now
I am liking this but a number of the reviews suggest it isn't very good at keeping time??
I've got an automatic but have never used it. It is always run down when I come to use it and can't be bothered to sit there and shake it about for half an hour!

Are Barton US based? Been on their site and seems to be US shipping to UK? Any UK suppliers without inflating the prices?
Love these

You can also rotate the crown clockwise to give it tension... Damn it why did you have to do it the hard way

Is it a Seiko 5?

Mine runs down when I don't wear it, but I just set it to the right time, shake gently for about 5 seconds and put it on my wrist. Works perfectly.

It's a seiko 5m62 and if you shake it for a few minutes it shows a full charge on the second hand test but it will pack up after 20 minutes. I think it must be faulty.

I know, its just ridiculous when people compare the accuracy of a mechanical movement to a quartz. No thought given to the amazing mechanics or the work that has gone into producing such an amazing feat of engineering. I love my automatic watch and the fact that it has a clear back so I can see the movement.
I bought the silver earlier this year:

Seiko sports 5

Mine loses between 3 and 7 seconds a day. Pretty astonishing accuracy when you consider it is entirely mechanical.
Just got an email order cancelled out of stock :-(
