Wasn't sure where to post this under vouchers but decided as it is only for awareness only and not a nationwide deal to post it under freebies

Got this off a facebook group post, the group is known as Extreme Coupining UK - facebook.com/cou…=ts

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone, Tesco are trialing a really exciting new couponing policy which I think could save a lot of us money if they role it out Nationwide!

In a limited number of their stores they are accepting coupons from other supermarkets. I contacted them to find out more. Here was their response...

"Thanks for posting. This is a trail and is in the following stores. Hopefully the below will be useful

Participating stores:

Mansfield Jubilee Ext
Mansfield Chestfd Ext
Inverness Inshes Extra
Inverness Extra
Inverness Metro
Inverness Ness Side
Melton Mowbray
Bristol Metro
Bristol East Extra
Brislington Extra
Bristol 2
Redfield
Bristol Homeplus
Bradley Stoke Extra
Staple Hill Metro
Slough Extra

Coupons we'll accept:

Sainsbury's brand match, Asda price guarantee.

Conditional spend coupons (such as £5 off £40, £3 off £30 etc.) for Asda, Sainsbury's, Lidl, Aldi, Morrison's & Waitrose in store only (competitor coupons are not accepted online)."

Have you seen this in your local supermarket?

It is a kind of voucher deal...

Requires a voucher so surely should be in vouchers lol

Haven't got a specific voucher code so wouldn't look too appealing, plus had the image to upload

This was standard practice until 4 or 5 years ago. It will be good to see it return.

Shame Tesco can't employ people that know the difference between "trail" and trial. Good post if there is a store near you.

I live in Ireland and most of the tesco here seem to have advertising saying that they accept competitors coupons..

Awwwwww tesco feeling the pressure of the boycotting from the pro palestine supporters that they have resorted to this. Good post nevertheless

Do we think this would stretch to the morrisons £5 meat vouchers?

Don't think it will include the current Morrison ones. It used to be the conditional spend ones a few years ago..

In my tesco (which is listed above) but checkout operator didn't know about it!

I wonder? wanted to try this tonight but not sure and also would I have to get what the coupon says or I can just use it against my shopping? hmm

until about 3 years ago I use to use all my coupons there was great if you had £4 off £40 spend from Tesco and Sainsbury's as you could use both at the same time.

useless for me right now as I'm boycotting but good for those of you who aren't.

I work in Tesco as a manager and was called down to the checkouts because a customer was arguing the toss with me that I should accept the voucher. So, I tried to scan the voucher and it worked. So I was like "wholly cow" although, I didn't take the coupon but yeah it should work with those coupons.

Obviously a typo shame you couldn't recognise that

Well done to all those who have chosen to boycott

They always used to accept them so will be good if they start again, I usually shop in Tesco but if I have a coupon I will go elsewhere which is presumably what they want to avoid.

used my morrisons one lady scanned no problems

keep up the boycott and soon they will be giving the stuff away!!

aah the good old days, used many a farmfoods coupon then.

Always subject to manager approval! Tesco == "make the rules up as you go along"

Great find OP

**** this **** about palestine and gaza and israel, THIS IS HOT UK DEALS NOT HOT UK NEWS!

Can't you print off an unlimited number of the same Asda Price Guarantee voucher? Seems open to major abuse if they don't know to check the associated receipt.
The local Asda used to accept Tesco vouchers too, which was particularly handy as Asda was much cheaper

Obviously Asda staff know they need to have both the voucher & the original receipt, plus to cancel the receipt against future repeat use.

I bet Tesco staff will just accept the voucher on its own. Which as you say, can be printed umpteen times.

That'd be naughty so don't do it.

The problem with Tesco is that it is not very good at communicating these initiatives to it's staff, so you can end up going to one checkout who will accept a voucher, another who won't, and a third who is clueless and doesn't know what to do.

Tesco needs to make sure all it's staff members are singing from the same hymn sheet so there are no embarrassing scenes at checkouts.

Easy enough to generate - legitimately - a £10 Asda APG, I've done it many times just by buying stuff in Asda that I know is cheaper elsewhere - I like to get another 10% off plus we don't have a Tesco handy so I'd have to spend £6 in petrol to get the Tesco offers, this way I just get prices 10% cheaper than Tesco, in Asda.

Start by buying some 9p Walkers crisps lol hotukdeals.com/dea…009

Well done to all those who have chosen to boycott

why are we avoiding Tesco?????? what have I missed

Do people seriously think this is due to boycotting? Lots of supermarkets have done this usually in areas where there are lots of competition. Boycott your computers, the Internet and Azerbaijan.

Is there boycott Syria campaign yet? Think that's coming up to a horrendous 200,000 civilian casualties.

Somebody pls report back on whether Tesco are taking Asda APGs

I work in Tesco and we are not told about the offers. We only find out from looking in the newspapers at break.

thought it was 'holy cow'!

@leomendis, some ppl have ethics and like to shop based on morals. people buy free range eggs rather than caged hens eggs as they deem this to be cruel. Similarly some people choose not to support a company which actively supports caging/blockading an entire population. Therefore a deal is no longer a deal for the conscience buyer. Each to their own.

You are absolutely right but some people can only see as far as the end of their nose.

Economics is not just about money; money is just a factor. If somebody posted a deal for a £3.99 64GB SD card, there would be plenty of people moaning about its read/write speed but if somebody posts a deal for dates produced on stolen land don't dare point out the human rights violations and oppression of a displaced people.

If anybody can watch the slaughter of families on the news and think that it has nothing to do with them, they are probably economically responsible.
