It's a bit of a gimmic really.

Shame really beacuse I was tempted prior to reading the 1st Q&A

In the FAQ section.

Q) and how long does it keep warm for on one set of batteries? - jon
A) OK - this should be used in the following way; turn on the power for a few minutes to warm up the jacket - turn off. It is not deisgned to be powered up constantly and if used in this way the batteries will last no more than 40 to 50 minutes

Q) what size is the vest? - kaz
A) This is in a standard Large size.

Q) Can an external power supply be used? - self heating waistcoat
A) NO it is battery powered.

Q) Is the vest available in any other sizes? ie small or medium? - Trevor
A) No sorry.

Its getting WARM.

i prefer the whisky method of warming up.

Got one of these for my dad for Christmas a while back, "Large" is a matter of opinion, I'd say that these are about a 38" chest

It seems this is meant to work as just giving short boosts of heat - I wonder how long the batteries last just using short boosts?

I worked for a company that was looking at using this techology - they were supplying it to the military for soldiers in cold climates

They also have heated gloves and heated insoles

Anybody have any other gadgets for keeping warm when working out side?

Maybe not for sports enthusiasts or active outdoor people such a cyclists since any sport of physical activity will warm the body natually, but would be good for those who like the outdoors but standing around a lot.

My little brother plays football on a Sunday and it's getting freezing! You should invest in some Under Armour Cold Gear. My bro uses it for football and it keeps him toasty!

6 AA batteries don't weigh much more than other things in most peoples pockets (phone, ipod etc).
I bought one of these for my friend who works as a doorman at a club. He say's it's great under his overcoat.

For watching football on those freezing cold days, you can't beat Damart thermal underwear. No batteries needed.

I could have done with one of these today having been outside working in the p i s s i n g rain all day - I don't think its a gimmic.

Plus with a bit of improvements with a lithium ion battery from E B A Y would improve the battery life
