Spotted this and thought it was a great offer if you have an older car and want rid, but don't want to pay for listing or you are unsure of it's worth.

You can get started in 3 easy steps:

1. Enter your reg and the cars mileage

2. Price your car at £1000 or less

3. List your advert for free!

T's & C's: excluding N.Ireland. Only cars valued at £1000 and below can take advantage of the free listing. Full standard T's & C's also apply

They have to compete with Gumtree somehow on the lower end of the market.

Unfortunately Auto Trader hasn't been great to use recently, not sure if it's just me but I've found that filters break often, and sometimes the reset doesn't work at all on either desktop or Android app.

So now the scammers won't have to pay anything to advertise a car they don't have

The PCP market has completely killed resale of reasonably priced second hand cars, people would much rather have a £250-300 PM payment and have a new car that they then hand back after 3/4 years.

I see why they need to do something differently and it's a good deal (as it's free!) but it won't stop idiotic buyers (or people that had no intention to buy) turning up and wasting your time.

I got fed up of this with a prestige car and ended up taking it to a local specialist, yes I get less but I'd rather let the professionals do it. And by professionals, I mean these guys, not 'We Buy Any Car' who offered me 20% less than the people I chose and 35% less than retail...

Are you eyeing at the car or her ?

Lol now it makes sense, donkeys traders who price at £500 to get a free listing then claim missed a zero off should be £5000 you can have it at today's special for 4000.

Thanks

Agreed. Don't blame people for not wanting a used car when they can get a brand new one with warranty and there end of contract cost will come very close to depreciation to a used car over 2 years.

That wont work. The car needs to be VALUED by autotrader at less than 1k.

So a 5k car, even if advertised for 500 will still valued by them at over 1k, so the advert wont be free .

Would never buy a new car, bought my car 3 years old at 6k, 2 years on still go for 4.5-5k

I just want them to do an update with finer filter of 0-60 acceleration times

I've never used autotrader. How much does it cost to sell a car on it?

Free?

Just curious as to how this benefits Autotrader? I mean the only way they earn money is through people selling their cars on the website after charging them a fee. If they're making it free for those selling cars under the value of £1k, what's it in for Autotrader?

They valued our old broken car at £1300 and let me list it at £600 for free.

Will they take an Austin Ambassador Y Reg?

long gone are the days of paying £30+ to sell your car... hello Facebook marketplace.

It's fiver for any value for me in Belfast but no audience

Increased advertising fees due to increased traffic I'd assume?

Ah yes, you're right. I didn't realise the website was plastered with ads.

Not if it's a badger also, but this is a deal for cars under £1000 and not badgers.

Also does a free HPI check. Handy ! ;-)

It doesn't work!!!

Nice deal - heat added. Was on there only yesterday contemplating whether to put the car on for sale. Just posted it now after seeing this deal. Cheers Op
